Production on the 10-episode season started on April 14 and wrapped by July 3, 2025. The new episodes pick up right where Season 1 left off, but things are getting a lot more intense.
Billie, played by Janice LeAnn Brown, is starting to realize that being part of the Russo family comes with way more challenges than she expected. It’s not just about magic, it’s about figuring out where she fits in now that she’s no longer the only wizard in the house.
Justin, once again played by David Henrie, now has to train not just Billie, but also Roman and Milo, who’ve both discovered their own magical powers. With three young wizards getting ready for the Family Wizard Competition, the pressure is on. And just as the family starts to settle into this new chapter, a dark new threat shows up, one that could tear everything apart.
The main cast is back, including Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie, Alkaio Thiele as Roman, Max Matenko as Milo, Taylor Cora as Winter, Mimi Gianopulos as Giada, and David Henrie as Justin Russo.
One of the most exciting reveals is that Selena Gomez will return in a special guest appearance as Alex Russo. Her role in Season 2 has been kept under wraps, but fans are already buzzing about what kind of trouble Alex might bring back with her. Her appearance was confirmed earlier this year.
There’s also a full lineup of new and returning guest stars. Freya Skye joins as Piper, Harvey Guillén plays a magical gossip stone, and Recker Eans appears as Quentin. Other names include Kirsten Vangsness as Bigelow McFigglehorn, Tobias Jelinek as Lord Morsus, and Patrick Bristow as Wiz M.D.
Plus, Bill Chott returns as the fan-favorite Mr. Laritate. Amanda Tepe, Patrick Cox, Audrianna Lico, Eleanor Sweeney, and Sean Whalen also appear in guest roles.
The announcement of Season 2 was first made on March 31, 2025, with Disney confirming production shortly after. According to official sources, the team behind the show wanted to raise the stakes for Season 2 while still keeping the humor and heart that fans love.
“It’s about growing up, facing your past, and figuring out who you really are—all with a little magic,” one of the producers said in a recent behind-the-scenes feature.
The countdown is officially on. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place returns September 12 on Disney with a double-episode premiere.
