Alien Sci-Fi Hit on Apple TV Returns for Season 3 with Exciting New Teaser
The sci-fi show Invasion is back for a third season on Apple TV+, and fans are already buzzing after the new teaser dropped. Created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil, the series first premiered on October 22, 2021.
What makes Invasion different is how it tells the story of an alien arrival from the perspective of everyday people all around the world. You’ll hear different languages like English, Japanese, and Pashto, giving the show a truly global feel. In Germany, the show goes by the name Infiltration.
The plot centers on aliens invading Earth and how people react to the growing chaos. The show takes its time building tension, focusing more on characters’ struggles than nonstop action. However, some critics weren’t fully sold. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the first season earned a 48% approval rating with an average score of 5.6 out of 10.
Their review said, “Invasion attempts a slow burn but inadvertently lets its tension completely fizzle out with leaden pacing that will leave viewers impatient for the alien apocalypse to finally arrive.” Metacritic’s score was similar, with a 51 out of 100 based on 15 critic reviews, calling the feedback “mixed or average.”
The second season, which arrived on August 23, 2023, saw better reception. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 64% approval rating and said, “A marked improvement if not a wholehearted vindication, Invasion’s second season explores the fallout of an alien takeover with impressive scope.” Metacritic also rated it higher with a 63 out of 100 from 4 critic reviews, describing the reviews as “generally favorable.”
Fans can look forward to the third season, which was officially renewed on February 13, 2024. The new season is scheduled to premiere on August 22.
