A brand-new clip from The Conjuring: Last Rites has just been released, and it gives fans a terrifying look at one of the film’s scariest moments involving a mirror. In the scene, a haunted mirror is being transported, and at one point, the demonic activity undoes the ratchet straps before finally being unleashed.

The movie is the ninth entry in the Conjuring universe and comes from New Line Cinema. It is directed by franchise veteran Michael Chaves and produced by James Wan and Peter Safran, the creators behind the Conjuring films.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return as Ed and Lorraine Warren, the famous real-life paranormal investigators. This installment shows them on one last case, delivering another chilling story based on real events.

The cast also includes Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy as Ed and Lorraine’s daughter Judy Warren and her boyfriend Tony Spera, along with Steve Coulter returning as Father Gordon. Other actors in the film include Rebecca Calder, Elliot Cowan, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, John Brotherton, and Shannon Kook.

Michael Chaves directed the movie from a screenplay by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing, with contributions from David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The story was created by Johnson-McGoldrick and James Wan, based on characters developed by Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes. Executive producers include Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Natalia Safran, John Rickard, Hans Ritter, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.

The movie will hit theaters and IMAX in North America on September 5, 2025, and will be released internationally starting September 3, 2025. Warner Bros. Pictures will handle the worldwide release.

Before The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It came out in June 2021, Chaves spoke to Empire about the future of the series, saying, “What [The Devil Made Me Do It] hopefully does is open up this new chapter for the Warrens. This has a very unique ending to The Conjuring films. I would be excited to see where it could go from here.”

Both Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga also expressed interest in returning, with Farmiga stating, “Oh my God, I’d love to [continue]. It’s interesting, we have to up the fear in each one. Demonology is already so high-pitched and operatic.”

Chaves mentioned in September 2023 that the project was intended to act as a finale for previous stories in the franchise. By early 2024, Chaves was officially hired as director again, and in September, Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing completed rewrites of the original draft. Ben Hardy and Mia Tomlinson joined the cast in supporting roles.

With this new clip released and fans already reacting to the scary scene, The Conjuring: Last Rites is shaping up to be a tense and unforgettable chapter in the franchise.
