First Look: Meet the Weasley Children in HBO’s New ‘Harry Potter’ Series
The Burrow is getting busy. HBO has announced more of the Weasley kids for its upcoming Harry Potter series. Tristan Harland will play Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland is George, Ruari Spooner is Percy, and Gracie Cochrane will be Ginny.
They join Alastair Stout, who was already announced as Ron Weasley, and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley.
HBO shared a selfie of Stout with some of his onscreen siblings on Instagram, hinting that another Weasley is on the way. “Charlie’s in Romania at the moment but will be joining us soon enough…” the post said.
The eldest Weasley, Bill, played by Domhnall Gleeson in the movies, and their dad Arthur, played by Mark Williams, still haven’t been cast.
The series is being developed by HBO and is based on J.K. Rowling’s famous books. Dominic McLaughlin stars as Harry Potter, with Arabella Stanton playing Hermione Granger. The show also features John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, and Nick Frost in supporting roles.
Filming started on July 14, 2025, under the working title Dark Train at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, where the original Harry Potter films were shot. Cinematographer Adriano Goldman is leading the production. A temporary school has been built on set to teach up to 600 child actors.
In May 2025, the crew had already started building sets and spent a week filming around the Tévennec Lighthouse in Brittany. The first official production photo was released on July 14, showing McLaughlin in character alongside Frost. Filming also took place at the London Zoo on July 17 and Borough High Street in Southwark on August 18, with Harry and other cast members in costume.
The first season is expected to finish filming by mid-2026, with work on the second season beginning a few months later.
