Jessica Chastain Goes Undercover in First Intense Trailer for Apple TV+ Thriller ‘The Savant’
Apple TV+ has dropped the first trailer for The Savant, a new crime thriller miniseries starring Jessica Chastain.
The show is set to premiere on September 26, 2025, with two episodes on launch day, followed by weekly releases until November 7.

The story is based on a Cosmopolitan article by Andrea Stanley titled Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens? published in 2019. The series follows a woman known only as “the Savant,” who secretly infiltrates dangerous online hate groups to stop potential mass attacks before they happen.
Jessica Chastain leads the cast as Jodi Goodwin, also called The Savant, with Nnamdi Asomugha playing Charlie Goodwin. Pablo Schreiber appears as Jason, while James Badge Dale, Cole Doman, Michael Mosley, Dagmara Domińczyk, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, Hannah Gross, and David Wilson Barnes round out the supporting cast.
The series was created by Melissa James Gibson, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Matthew Heineman directed episodes, while Fifth Season and Anonymous Content handled production.
Jessica Chastain also produces through her company Freckle Films, alongside Kelly Carmichael. Jessica Giles, editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan, and Brian Madden, senior VP of Hearst Magazines, are involved as producers, with Andrea Stanley consulting.
Chastain spoke about her role in an interview with Variety, explaining that her performance was designed to protect the real-life woman’s anonymity. “I wouldn’t want to look and behave exactly like her, because I want to keep her hidden,” she said.
Filming was originally expected to begin in September 2023 in New York but actually kicked off in April 2024.
According to Apple TV+, The Savant will tell a tense and gripping story across eight episodes, mixing real-life inspiration with a dramatized take on one of the most dangerous threats today.
