Since Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield made their glorifying return as Spider-Men in 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ we sort of entered an era in which many superhero movies want to build up hype with special, long-awaited returns of beloved actors in their superhero roles. DC’s attempt at that with Michael Keaton’s Batman wasn’t so successful, but Marvel’s upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’ is followed by a huge hype thanks to the announced return of Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine.

Basically, any long-awaited return is possible now. We honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we see Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man or Chris Evans as Captain America again, no matter how definitive their exit after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ may have looked. Superhero movies are always trying to raise the bar with anticipation, and we have no doubt that this is just the beginning. ‘Deadpool 3’ will be a Multiverse movie that’ll also bring back Jennifer Garner as Elektra. Now, according to some new reports, it looks like we could also see Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider again.

A new rumor indicates that we might see Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider again… sooner than we think!

As we know, reports and rumors about upcoming superhero projects are circulating around social media 24/7. Now, MyTimeToShineHello and CanWeGetSomeToast recently shared cryptic posts that tease Ghost Rider’s return, although only MyTimeToShineHello said that the returning Ghost Rider would indeed be played by Nicolas Cage, who played the character in two movies in 2007 and 2012. No details about this indicated return have been shared, although MyTimeToShineHello subsequently shared that it’ll happen “sooner than we think.”

Nicolas Cage debuted as Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, in 2007’s ‘Ghost Rider’ movie, which was written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson. The movie received a negative response from critics but was a box-office success, grossing $228.7 million worldwide. The movie managed to spawn a sequel, ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,’ which was released in 2011 (worldwide in 2012), but it was met with even worse critical reception, and the movie wasn’t so successful at the box office despite a lower budget.

Another sequel was canceled, and the rights for the character were reverted to Marvel Studios. Robbie Reyes, another character known as the Ghost Rider in the comics, has appeared in ‘Marvel’s Agent of SHIELD’ television series, in which Gabriel Luna portrayed the character.

Nicolas Cage isn’t unfamiliar with the superhero genre. In the 1990s, he signed to play Superman in a movie, which never happened, although he made a cameo appearance as a variant of Superman in this year’s ‘The Flash.’ He also voiced Spider-Man Noir in the acclaimed ‘Spider-Verse’ franchise, which spawned its second movie this year, and the third one is on the way.

Would you like to see Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider again? Do you really think we’re going to see him in the MCU? Let us know in the comments.
