A mysterious figure known online as the “Batman of Lagos de Moreno” has become the center of attention after several people accused of stealing motorcycles were found tied to street poles in Jalisco, Mexico.

The strange incidents happened in Lagos de Moreno, a municipality in Jalisco, where photos began spreading across social media showing men restrained with tape in public areas. In some cases, motorcycles believed to be connected to thefts were left nearby.

The nickname “Batman” quickly appeared online as users compared the unknown person or group to a comic-book-style vigilante taking action against criminals. However, local authorities are not treating the situation as a heroic act. Instead, they are investigating the events as possible crimes.

According to reports from El Financiero, Jalisco prosecutor Salvador González de los Santos confirmed that several cases involving tied-up individuals had been reported. Some of the people were found with signs accusing them of motorcycle theft.

The prosecutor explained that investigations into the accusations are still ongoing and that the people found tied up should not automatically be considered criminals. He said, “en este momento son víctimas,” which means “at this moment they are victims.”

The first reported case happened around June 13, according to Infobae. A young man was discovered tied to a post with injuries and a cardboard message accusing him of being a “ratero,” a Spanish word commonly used for thief.

More incidents followed later in the month. Reports said that additional men were found tied up on June 17 and June 19, with at least five people involved in similar situations.

Images shared online showed some of the men with tape around their mouths, marks on their faces, and warning signs placed next to them. Some reports also claimed that motorcycles connected to the alleged thefts were found at the locations.

The story quickly spread beyond Mexico, with social media users discussing the idea of a real-life Batman figure fighting crime. Many people reacted with curiosity, while others pointed out that vigilante actions can create serious problems when people take justice into their own hands.

Authorities in Jalisco have made it clear that they are investigating the incidents carefully. State Security Secretary Juan Pablo Hernández said that five cases had been identified, two vehicles possibly linked to the events had been located, and no suspects had been arrested.

Officials are also looking into whether the “Batman” is actually one person or a larger group. The investigation has not confirmed whether these acts were carried out by a single individual, local residents, or an organized group.

The identity of the person or people behind the incidents remains unknown. While some internet users have praised the idea of someone fighting motorcycle theft, authorities are focused on finding out what actually happened and who was responsible.

For now, the so-called “Batman of Lagos de Moreno” remains a mystery. The people found tied up have reportedly received medical care, while investigators continue looking into both the motorcycle theft accusations and the attacks against them.
