‘Andor’ Season 2 Currently Undergoing Reshoots in Bristol
In February 2022, star Stellan Skarsgård suggested that ‘Andor’ would have a second season, with filming starting in late 2022. In April, cinematographer Adriano Goldman mentioned that the initial plan for five seasons had changed, and the series was now expected to last three seasons.
At the Star Wars Celebration in May, Lucasfilm confirmed a 12-episode second season. Gilroy explained that the original five-season plan was deemed “physically impossible” due to the series’ scale, so they decided to conclude with one more season that directly leads into the events of Rogue One.
Now the second and final season of ‘Andor’ was extremely complicated due to the SAG-AFTRA Strike. The filming initially wrapped up in February but Bespin Bulletin reports that the show is currently undergoing reshoots in Bristol, most likely due to the effects of the strikes, and polishing some additional details.
Season two of Andor is presently in production at the Bank of England building on Wine Street in Bristol. ‘Pilgrim’ (production title for ‘Andor’) signs are visible at the site, albeit on simple A4 sheets instead of the typical pink signs. Fences have been erected to block access to the building’s basement, where generators from hired companies are situated outside. The duration of Andor’s filming at this location and the length of these reshoots remain uncertain at this time.
Not much is known about season 2 except for the fact that it will feature a much faster pacing than the previous season, the show in the end has to summarize several years of plot into a single season. According to the latest reports, the second season of ‘Andor’ will have a unique structure mostly in the context of massive time jumps, which presents challenges to the whole crew.
The production was further complicated when Tony Gilroy left the production in May 2023, and filming continued without him. However, in July 2023, production came to an indefinite halt due to the onset of the Strikes, with only a few weeks of filming remaining.
