‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ Trailer Finally Reveals Korra’s Successor, and Here’s Exactly How the Episodes Will Roll Out

The Avatar franchise has spent the past year expanding in nearly every direction at once, from a big-budget animated theatrical release to an ongoing live-action Netflix adaptation. Amid all that growth, one project has remained the most anticipated for longtime fans: the next mainline animated series continuing the story after ‘The Legend of Korra.’

That series is ‘Avatar: Seven Havens,’ created by original ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ minds Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, and set 225 years after Korra’s story ended. The show centers on Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the next Avatar in a world left shattered by a devastating cataclysm, one that has turned humanity against her rather than toward her for protection.

That premise finally got its full trailer, giving fans their most detailed look yet at Pavi’s journey alongside her long-lost twin sister, Nisha. Rather than being embraced as a savior the way past Avatars were, Pavi is viewed by the fractured remnants of civilization as a destroyer, forcing her to hide her identity while she and Nisha work to uncover their origins and save what’s left of the Seven Havens before the last strongholds collapse.

Alongside the trailer, Paramount+ also confirmed exactly how the series will roll out once it premieres on October 9. Rather than releasing the entire 26-episode order at once as some earlier reports had suggested, only the first three episodes will actually arrive on launch day, with three additional episodes releasing weekly before the season’s final four episodes close things out on October 30.

The voice cast rounding out this new chapter includes Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker voicing both Geet and Ruhi. The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation and Avatar Studios, with animation handled by La Chouette Compagnie and original music composed by Jeremy Zuckerman, a returning composer from the franchise’s earlier series.

Executive producer Sehaj Sethi has offered insight into how deeply the show’s world-building draws from real cultural influences. Speaking with Polygon, Sethi explained that while ‘Seven Havens’ is set roughly 225 years after ‘The Legend of Korra,’ its fantastical setting remains heavily influenced by AAPI and Indigenous cultures and histories, pointing specifically to the location name Ellora as a direct nod to the real-world Ellora Caves, an ancient Indian complex of monasteries and temples.

That cultural grounding fits into a franchise that’s leaning harder into scale and ambition than ever before. ‘Seven Havens’ arrives on the heels of ‘Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender,’ the franchise’s theatrical animated film that became a Paramount+ exclusive following the studio’s merger with Skydance Media, and it continues alongside Netflix’s ongoing live-action adaptation, which is already moving toward its third season.

For fans who’ve followed the franchise since Aang first emerged from the iceberg, Pavi represents something genuinely new: the first Avatar since Korra to headline a major series, and the first to be actively feared rather than celebrated by the very world she’s meant to protect. That shift in dynamic alone has already sparked plenty of speculation about how her journey will differ from her predecessors.

With a firm release date locked in and a staggered episode rollout designed to keep the conversation going week after week, ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ is positioning itself as one of the biggest animated events of the fall.
