‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Hype Crashes After Surprise Reveal Disappoints Fans

Marvel fans spent much of the day expecting a major Avengers: Doomsday announcement, but the latest reveal has left many feeling underwhelmed.

For the past week, excitement had been building online after a series of mysterious teases connected to Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo, along with Donald Mustard, the former Fortnite creative director who now works with the Russos at AGBO. Many fans became convinced that Marvel Studios was preparing to release the first trailer for the highly anticipated movie.

According to reports and social media posts shared by fans, the mystery appears to have led to something much smaller than expected: a Doctor Doom-themed coffee shop in London.

The temporary location, called Dom Latveria Coffee, is reportedly a rebranded version of Flying Horse Coffee in Shoreditch, East London. The pop-up is located near the SXSW London festival, where the Russo brothers are scheduled to appear for an event connected to AGBO.

Fans who visited the location shared videos online showing Latveria-themed decorations and coffee products. The shop features bags of coffee branded with the fictional country’s logo, a reference to Doctor Doom’s homeland in Marvel Comics.

One slogan printed on the packaging reads, “The official coffee of world domination.” Another line adds, “Approved by the ministry of morale. Resistance is delicious.”

The coffee bags also include fictional backstory details, claiming the beans come from the “Finca Latveria Reserve” and were harvested by “those who serve.” While the branding is clearly inspired by Doctor Doom, visitors noted that the products themselves appear to be standard coffee offerings with special packaging.

The shop also includes several references aimed directly at Marvel fans. A sign reportedly welcomes customers to Latveria and features the phrase “Richards was wrong,” a clear nod to Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic and one of Doctor Doom’s greatest rivals in Marvel Comics.

The reveal came after days of speculation fueled by cryptic social media posts. Donald Mustard had previously shared information about a London event and teased a “surprise at 2pm.” That comment immediately sparked theories that a trailer or major footage reveal for Avengers: Doomsday was on the way.

Because Doctor Doom is expected to play a central role in the upcoming film, many fans connected the clues directly to Marvel’s next major crossover event. Some even believed the timing lined up perfectly for the debut of the movie’s first trailer.

After videos from the coffee shop began circulating online, reactions quickly followed.

Despite the disappointment, some fans still believe there could be another announcement coming. The Russo brothers’ appearance at SXSW London has not yet taken place, and the teased “surprise” may still deliver something more substantial.

For now, however, the biggest Avengers: Doomsday mystery appears to have led fans to a cup of coffee rather than a trailer.

Marvel Studios has not officially commented on the speculation, and fans continue to wait for the first real footage from Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18.
