Captain Marvel 3 Ant Man 4 Reportedly No Longer Happening

2023 saw three MCU movies being released. The year has kicked off with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ and concluded with ‘The Marvels.’ Out of those 3 movies, only one has been a critical and commercial success with ‘Ant-Man 3’ and ‘The Marvels’ being flops. The worst thing is ‘Ant-Man 3’ was the first movie of the MCU’s phase 5 and was supposed to introduce the next major villain in the MCU, Kang the Conqueror but the failure of the movie almost made Marvel Studios rethink that direction.

It’s not that the characters were uninteresting, the first two ‘Ant-Man’ installments were both critical and commercial success, especially when you take into account that Ant-Man is a relatively unknown character when it comes to your typical moviegoer. We don’t even have to mention ‘Captain Marvel’ movie, which was a massive success. The first ‘Captain Marvel’ made a whopping $1.131 billion globally, but to be fair the movie had several things going for it that ‘The Marvels’ did not.

In any case, if Daniel Richtman is to be believed, a reliable scooper and leaker, the sequels to ‘Quantumania’ and ‘The Marvels’ are no longer happening as the studio wants to focus on surefire hits and doesn’t want to take any more chances with projects like these.

In the same post on his private Patreon, Richtman also confirmed that ‘Eternals 2’ is no longer in development, pretty much due to the same reason.

This doesn’t mean that this is the end for our beloved superheroes. We are sure that both Ant-Man and Captain Marvel will take part in the upcoming ‘Avengers’ movies. And as far as young Cassie and Ms. Marvel go, the movie focusing on Young Avengers is still in development and going strong.
