When Gunn & Safran took over DC Studio as co-chairmen and co-CEOs, they announced a complete overhaul of the old DCEU and announced a large number of projects ranging from live-action movies to live-action TV shows and animated series. We know that several projects are currently in production such as ‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025 and ‘Creature Commandos’ the first project to be released under the newly coined DCU label.

About the rest of the projects, we know very little except for some occasional rumors and leaks related to casting or plot points. Two shows that fans were most excited about were ‘Booster Gold’ and ‘Lanterns,’ and we’re pleased to announce that we have some news.

According to Production Weekly, both ‘Booster Gold’ and ‘Lanterns’ will enter production in 2025.

‘Lanterns’ was originally imagined as Geoff Johns’ Green Lantern Corps film set in the DCEU, scheduled for release by the end of 2019. However, plans shifted when it was announced in April 2020 that Johns would produce a Green Lantern Corps series for HBO Max, suggesting a change in direction. Efforts have been made to distance the series from the CW’s Arrowverse, possibly to appeal to those disinterested in the Arrowverse’s lower-budget productions. Then nothing was heard about the show until it was revealed that it would be developed as a “cosmic detective” story for DCU.

Three notable Green Lanterns will be appearing in the show, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Guy Gardner, with only Nathan Filion being confirmed to play Guy Gardner. The question of who will play John Stewart still remains unanswered.

As far as ‘Booster Gold’ goes, it has an even longer history of development than ‘Lanterns.’ In November 2011, Syfy ordered a television series based on Booster Gold, developed by Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. However, despite Kreisberg submitting a script in June 2013, the project never materialized. On January 31, 2023, James Gunn announced the first part of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, which included Booster Gold among the projects, and this is pretty much all we know about the show.
