‘Deadpool 3’ Director Plays Coy About Possibly Directing ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

With the strikes currently ongoing in the American movie and television industry, practically the only way to get some legit information or some promotion for the upcoming projects is from the studios’ official social media accounts or through directors since DGA (Director’s Guild of America) isn’t on strike. However, with many productions currently on hold, some directors can only provide vague answers about their potential projects in the future.

One of the productions that the strikes affected is the one of ‘Deadpool 3,’ the upcoming movie which is highly anticipated among the MCU fans for a good number of reasons. The movie is set to introduce Regenerating Degenerate to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s going to feature many special returns, including the one of Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine and Jennifer Garner as Elektra.

Shawn Levy avoids giving a direct answer when asked about possibly directing ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

Shawn Levy, who is best known for working on the ‘Night at the Museum’ franchise, Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ series, and two Ryan Reynolds-starring movies ‘Free Guy’ and ‘The Adam Project,’ has signed to direct the upcoming ‘Deadpool’ threequel, which is his third collaboration with Reynolds.

Recently, Levy gave us some teases on what to expect from his next movie, but now, he was asked about the recent rumors that he might be one of the potential candidates to direct ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ the upcoming culmination of the Multiverse Saga. Here’s what Levy answered:

“I’ve read that rumor… and that’s all I’m going to say.”

Rumor: ‘Deadpool 3’ Will Reportedly Lead Directly Into ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

At last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios officially announced ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ as another two-part crossover event that’ll serve as the climax of the Multiverse Saga. Unlike ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame,’ these upcoming movies will be developed by two separate teams of writers and directors.

It was previously confirmed that Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,’ has signed to direct ‘The Kang Dynasty,’ but it’s still unknown who will helm ‘Secret Wars.’ Sam Raimi, the director of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ is also rumored as a potential candidate.

‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is currently scheduled to be released in 2027, so there’s still plenty of time for the studio to hire a proper director. If ‘Deadpool 3’ lives up to its hype both critically and commercially, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Levy would get another MCU project to helm.

Who do you think would be the best director for ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’? Are you looking forward to Levy’s ‘Deadpool 3’? Let us know in the comments.
