Creator of X Men 97 Beau DeMayo Fired Just Weeks Ahead of Shows Premiere

A few days ago news broke that Beau DeMayo, creator of ‘X-Men ’97’ was fired and his company email was deactivated without prior notice. The studio refused to comment on the reasons behind the firing and his representatives have stayed silent on the matter as well. DeMayo nuked his social media and didn’t comment as of yet on the reasons behind this shocking decision that took place a week before the premiere of the highly anticipated animated show.

Things have been going well future-wise, DeMayo’s second season for the show has been approved prior to the release of the first season and he was already making plans for season 3. He was also to take part in several other projects as the studio had big plans for him.

Then yesterday, rumors started spreading that despite seemingly being a golden and successful child of the studio, DeMayo had internal problems with ‘X-Men ’97’ and with his proposed ‘Blade’ story, however, that wasn’t a reason for his firing. On the Hot Mic podcast, insiders John Rocha and Jeff Sneider commented that DeMayo was difficult to work with as well as had a series of other problematic issues that eventually served as the straw that broke the camel’s back. Sneider did not want to reveal more as he had a newsletter coming out. Rocha added that the fact that DeMayo had an OnlyFans, only worsened the current situation even though the OnlyFans in question was non-sexual and actually showed DeMayo working on some of his projects.

If the allegations that DeMayo is abusive turn out to be true, this points out that Disney and Marvel Studios have some serious issues judging the characters of their stars. It seems that every few months or so new scandal resurfaces, most notable being John Depp (who eventually turned out to be falsely accused), James Gunn, Josh Brolin, and Jeremy Renner are only some of the names that found themselves on the targets of rumors and speculations to be a potential abusers. The latest and still the most impactful (in the context of the MCU) is Jonathan Majors who was found guilty of assault and promptly fired, leading Marvel Studios to re-think their entire phase 5.
