‘Dune’ Star Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez’s New Film Revealed — Here’s What We Know
Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez are stepping into the world of animation together for a brand-new sci-fi adventure called Not Alone. The upcoming film will mark Chalamet’s first animated role and will bring the two stars together for a story filled with romance, space travel, and a group of unexpected alien visitors.
The movie comes from Illumination Entertainment, the studio behind popular animated films such as Despicable Me and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. According to a press release, Not Alone will follow two very different people whose lives change after a strange encounter from beyond Earth.
Chalamet will voice Joe, a quiet and lonely rocket mechanic who prefers a simple life away from others. Selena Gomez will play Fran, a talented astro-botanist working on a groundbreaking invention that could change space exploration forever.
Fran’s biggest project is the creation of the world’s first rocket powered by plants. The official synopsis explains that “Joe and Fran are brought together to prepare for the inaugural launch of this revolutionary rocket.” Although they quickly feel a connection, their relationship does not come easily.
The film’s description adds that “there are immediate sparks, but neither is particularly adept at romance.” Their awkward but charming relationship becomes even more complicated when their lives are suddenly interrupted by three small alien creatures.
The aliens, named Dunk, Welly, and Shirm, are described as tiny, chaotic, and lovable. They arrive on Earth while escaping from an officer named Zandro, who is chasing them across the galaxy. Their unexpected arrival forces Joe and Fran into a much bigger adventure than they ever imagined.
The three aliens soon discover that Fran’s plant-powered rocket might be their only chance to return home safely. What starts as a simple mission to launch a new spacecraft turns into a journey involving friendship, trust, and helping creatures from another world.
For Chalamet, the project represents a new type of performance after years of starring in major live-action films. The actor has become one of Hollywood’s biggest names thanks to roles in movies like Dune, Wonka, and Call Me by Your Name. Taking on an animated character allows him to explore a different style of storytelling.
Gomez is also no stranger to animation. She previously voiced Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania franchise, where she brought humor and emotion to the lead role. Her experience with animated films makes her a natural fit for the character of Fran, who is described as intelligent, creative, and determined.
While details about the release date and additional cast members have not been announced, Not Alone is already attracting attention because of its unusual pairing of two major stars. The combination of Chalamet’s voice performance and Gomez’s animated experience could make the film one of Illumination’s most talked-about upcoming projects.
With aliens, a space mission, and an unexpected love story at its center, Not Alone looks set to deliver a mix of comedy, adventure, and heart when it arrives.
