Elizabeth Olsen Doesn’t Want to Be Known Only as the Scarlet Witch

It’s not uncommon for gigantic movie franchises and very popular television shows to make a star out of actors who were rather unknown before getting their roles in those franchises. However, as popularity increases, it’s also not uncommon for an actor to try new things in their careers since they don’t want to be associated only with that one role that turned them into stars.

Dave Bautista is one of the examples. After playing the role of Drax for the last time in this year’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ the former wrestler-turned-actor decided to focus on other roles because he said he doesn’t want Drax to be his only legacy. And now, it looks like Elizabeth Olsen, who is best known for playing Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, feels the same way.

Elizabeth Olsen likes to be associated with Wanda, but she also wants more characters in her life!

Prior to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Olsen began her career in 2011’s ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene,’ and she was also nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2012. In 2014, she debuted as Wanda Maximoff in the mid-credit scene of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ before making her first full appearance in 2015’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron.’ To this day, she played the character in six movies and one television series.

Apart from the MCU, Olsen starred in other known movies, such as 2014’s ‘Godzilla,’ 2017’s ‘Wind River,’ and this year’s limited series ‘Love & Death.’ While she previously expressed her interest in playing Wanda again, particularly after that cliffhanger ending for the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Olsen also said that she wants to play more roles for which she could be equally known as she is for the Scarlet Witch now.

“I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel, I don’t want… It’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance. I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can. But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need more, other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character.”

Who Is Scarlet Witch’s Love Interest in the Comics?

Elizabeth Olsen is no doubt a really talented actress, and if her career continues to go in the right direction, we have no doubt that she will land many great roles in the future. Her performance in ‘Love & Death’ was largely praised, and she was previously nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for her performance as the Scarlet Witch in the ‘WandaVision’ series. Still, with an actress of her caliber, it wouldn’t surprise us if she’d eventually get a role in a movie or a series that could get her in another race for most prestigious acting awards.

All MCU projects featuring Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch are now streaming on Disney+. She will reprise the role in the upcoming second season of ‘What If…?.’ Her return to live-action projects is certainly expected, but when and where will that happen is currently anyone’s guess.

What are your thoughts on this topic? Would you watch non-MCU movies and television series in which Olsen would star in the future? Let us know in the comments.
