‘Euphoria’ Season 4 Could Take a Major Turn as Rumors Swirl About Sam Levinson’s Exit
Fans of Euphoria were recently given a reason to question the future of the show, but the rumors appear to come from a fake source. A viral post claimed that Season 4 would happen with a new showrunner after Sam Levinson stepped away, causing many viewers to believe the series might continue without him.
The post came from a parody account called Buzz Crave, which is not connected to a real entertainment news outlet. The account shared a message on X claiming, “Euphoria has been renewed for Season 4 with a new showrunner, as Sam Levinson steps down.”
Although the account clearly states in its bio that it is an unofficial parody page and not a real news source, the post quickly spread online. Many fans reacted as if the announcement was real, with some discussing what a new creative team could change about the story.
Some viewers joked about unfinished storylines they wanted answers to, including characters and plot points that were left unresolved. One fan wrote, “Right! maybe Rue and Nate can be resurrected and crazy Cassie becomes a better person.” Another joked that a new writer could finally explain what happened to Laurie, the dangerous drug dealer from the series, or bring back McKay’s storyline.
Other fans were less excited about the idea of the show continuing. Some believed the series had already reached its natural ending and did not need another season.
The fake announcement gained major attention, with the original post collecting more than 800,000 views. The reaction showed how strongly fans still feel about the series, even after its ending.
However, there is currently no official plan for a fourth season of Euphoria. Levinson has previously indicated that the third season was designed as the conclusion of the story. Following the finale, he explained why the ending focused on Rue’s difficult journey.
“It just felt like the honest ending,” Levinson said in a post-episode clip. “The honest ending is people like Rue don’t make it.”
The creator also made it clear that the finale was meant to close the story rather than set up another chapter. The final episode reportedly attracted 8.7 million viewers for HBO, showing that interest in the series remained high until the end.
The show first premiered in 2019 and quickly became one of HBO’s most talked-about dramas. It later returned with two special episodes before Season 2 arrived. The third and final season faced several delays because of production challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the entertainment industry strikes.

The long wait between seasons helped build a massive fanbase, which may explain why rumors about a possible comeback spread so quickly. Many viewers are still attached to characters like Rue, Cassie, Nate, and the rest of the East Highland group.
For now, though, the idea of Euphoria returning without Levinson appears to be nothing more than an online rumor. While fans may continue hoping for more stories from that world, the official ending remains the conclusion of Rue’s journey.
