‘Euphoria’ Star Alexa Demie Slinks Onto the Academy Museum Gala Carpet in Barefoot Chanel Feathers, and Maddy Would Approve
Alexa Demie doesn’t do red carpets often, which is exactly why they land so hard when she does. The ‘Euphoria’ star has built a reputation for being selective about when and where she steps into the spotlight, so every public appearance gets plenty of attention. That made Alexa Demie’s Academy Museum Gala look one of the most anticipated arrivals of the night.
The sixth annual gala took place on October 17 in Los Angeles, with Charlize Theron, Colman Domingo and John Carpenter honored and Taylor Swift set to perform. Often called the “Met Gala of the West,” the event arrives right after Fashion Month, so guests tend to show up in runway-fresh designs.
Demie arrived in a custom Chanel gown in a pale, aqua-tinged blue with feather trim. A cluster of soft feathers circles the neckline and gathers again at the waist, where a cutout opens at the side before the skirt falls into a long, fluid column with a high slit.

In the carpet clip, she stands against a backdrop of softly draped curtains, her long, straight dark hair framing her shoulders and long drop earrings catching the light. The slit climbs high up her leg, and she goes barefoot, which gives the whole look a relaxed, almost undone attitude that suits her.
The feathers soften what could have been a very sleek, sculpted dress. Instead, the combination of airy trim and body-skimming jersey feels playful and a little dangerous, a balance that fits her personal brand.

The gown arrives on the heels of a big Chanel moment. Demie attended the house’s Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris, and earlier in July she sat front row at Chanel’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2026/27 presentation in a black halter-neck dress that paid tribute to the little black dress. Observers noted that she chose clean lines and monochrome dressing over elaborate couture styling.
That show was described as a notable fashion milestone, her Chanel debut, so the custom gala gown feels like the next step in a growing relationship with the house.

This is not her first Academy Museum Gala. At the 2022 event, she wore a daring, unique all-black look from Balenciaga. She has long been tied to that label and has been called a Balenciaga muse, wearing three custom outfits to the ‘Euphoria’ season 2 premiere in 2022.
Compared with that darker, more severe aesthetic, the pale blue Chanel gown is lighter and more romantic. It shows a new side of a woman known for playing with edgier palettes.

Her carpet appearances come amid a big year for ‘Euphoria.’ Season 3 premiered on HBO on April 12, picking up five years after the last season, and Demie returned as Maddy Perez. She has teased that tension remains between Maddy and Cassie, whose friendship fell apart in season 2.
At the Los Angeles premiere on April 7, she wore a black-and-silver striped strapless gown with a body-hugging fit and a long train, styled with a delicate necklace and her short dark hair in loose waves.

Demie’s career extends well beyond the HBO series. She has appeared in ‘Mid90s,’ ‘Waves’ and ‘Brigsby Bear,’ and she released a single called ‘Girl Like Me’ in 2017. She has also been closely associated with fashion, and style writers regularly call her one of the most influential figures on the carpet despite making relatively few appearances.
That mix of mystery and style is part of why her looks spark so much conversation. Fans never quite know when she will show up next.
The guest list was packed. Taylor Swift, Kate Hudson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kerry Washington, Janelle Monáe, Anna Kendrick and Priyanka Chopra Jonas all walked the carpet, along with Mia Goth, Cailee Spaeny and Mckenna Grace.
