First Hour of ‘Death Stranding 2: On The Beach’ Gameplay Leaks Online

A full hour of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach has leaked online, giving fans their first detailed look at the upcoming game more than a year before its release. The video was shared by a Spanish YouTuber, ariel navarro rg, who somehow got their hands on the game early and uploaded the footage.
It’s unclear how they gained access. Some think it may have come from a store that broke the release date. Others believe it could be a media copy sent out early under strict rules, rules that may have been ignored. Either way, the gameplay is now out there, and many fans have already watched it.
Editor’s Note: The video in question has since been removed from YouTube.
The sequel, which is being developed by Kojima Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, is set to launch on June 26, 2025. Like the first game, it’s a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Hideo Kojima is once again in full creative control, serving as writer, producer, and director.
The game brings back familiar faces. Norman Reedus returns as Sam Porter Bridges, joined by Léa Seydoux and Troy Baker. New actors like Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, Luca Marinelli, and Debra Wilson are also part of the cast. A few film directors, including George Miller and Fatih Akin, make appearances as well.
Set mostly in Australia, the story picks up nearly a year after the events of the first game. The world remains in a fragile state, filled with strange threats. Players will once again guide Sam as he tries to rebuild connections between isolated communities. The goal is to expand the “chiral” network — a key part of the game’s story — and help save what’s left of humanity.
Development on the game started back in 2020, even though the official announcement didn’t come until 2022. According to the composer, the story was changed during development. Early feedback from test players was too positive, and Kojima wanted something deeper and more emotional. “He wanted people to feel more conflicted,” the composer said.
There are three versions of the game planned. The Standard Edition costs $69.99. A Digital Deluxe Edition will be $79.99. For collectors, there’s a high-end version priced at $229.99.
As of now, there are no official reviews or a Metacritic score, but based on Kojima’s track record, expectations are high. Most of his past titles have received strong praise from critics.
