Few cameos feel as perfectly matched as a pop star on a beach. ‘Baywatch‘ has always been about sun, sand and spectacle, and a Houston rapper known for her larger-than-life stage presence fits right in. Months after the first set photos started circulating, fans now have a proper look at what she is doing in the show.

The first look at Megan Thee Stallion in the ‘Baywatch’ reboot arrives as part of the new full trailer from Fox, which premieres in January. Variety notes the hip-hop star makes an appearance in the footage, joining a cast that already includes a mix of new and returning faces. The trailer has been drawing attention for its red swimsuits, big stunts and plenty of slow-motion running.

The cameo has been one of the show’s most talked-about secrets since the summer. Reports said she filmed a guest appearance as herself near Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach, California, and the scene reportedly featured a concert stage, with filming wrapping on Thursday, June 4. Megan herself confirmed her appearance on Instagram by sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the set.

The most eye-catching images from the shoot showed Megan taking part in the franchise’s signature moment. On June 5, she was photographed running across the sand in Long Beach with cameras following her, leading a group of lifeguards along the shoreline while carrying the classic red rescue float. It looked like a direct tribute to the slow-motion run that helped make the original series a worldwide hit.

She also wore a patterned orange bikini in photos from the set, a look that fans quickly embraced. Her appearance, as herself, adds a pop-culture twist to a series that has always leaned into celebrity glamour. It also fits the show’s apparent strategy of mixing nostalgia with current stars.

For Megan, the cameo is another entry in a growing list of mainstream projects. The ‘Savage’ singer was also the first woman to play Zidler in the Broadway production of ‘Moulin Rouge!’, a role usually known as Harold Zidler. A beach cameo may be a lighter assignment, but it continues her move from the music charts into acting and entertainment more broadly.

Fans have embraced the idea, with coverage describing the casting as a perfect match for a franchise that has produced some of television’s most iconic beach personalities. Her presence also helps connect the show to a younger, music-driven audience. That could be useful for a series that is trying to win over both longtime viewers and newcomers.

Fox’s ‘Baywatch’ stars Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon, with Jessica Belkin as his daughter, Charlie. The cast also includes Hassie Harrison, Shay Mitchell, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, Brooks Nader, Livvy Dunne and David Chokachi, with recurring roles for Ashley Moore, Luke Eisner, Nadia Gray, Kylar Miranda and Charlie McElveen. Original series stars Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin, Kelly Packard and Mary McDonnell have also been brought back in various roles.

Showrunner Matt Nix is an executive producer alongside McG, who directed the premiere, as well as Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz. The series is co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle. Fox picked up the reboot in September 2025 with a 12-episode order, held an open casting call in early 2026 and began production in Los Angeles in the spring.

The original ‘Baywatch’ ran for 11 seasons from 1989 to 2001 and helped make Pamela Anderson the face of 1990s television. A later attempt to revive the property as a comedic film, led by Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, did not capture the same magic. This new series is positioned as a direct continuation of the original, aiming to recapture the earnest, over-the-top spirit that made it a phenomenon.

Celebrity cameos have always been part of that DNA. By pulling in a major music star for a guest turn, the new show signals that it knows how to keep the brand current while honoring its roots. If the trailer is any indication, it also knows how to deliver the beach-run imagery fans expect.
