A new crime thriller called The Whisper Man is coming to Netflix on August 28. The first look at the film has now been shared, along with details about the cast, story, and production. The information comes from a report by John DiLillo.

The movie is based on the bestselling novel by Alex North. It mixes crime investigation with a darker mystery linked to an old serial killer case. At the heart of the story is a chilling rhyme from childhood that is connected to the killer known as “The Whisper Man.” When new disappearances begin, the past case is brought back into focus.

The story follows a family hit by tragedy when a young boy is kidnapped. His father, a writer, looks for help from his estranged parent, who is a retired police detective. That detective is the same person who once worked on the original Whisper Man case. As they dig deeper, they discover links between the old crimes and what is happening now.

The cast includes well-known names. Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, and Adam Scott lead the film. They are joined by Hamish Linklater, Owen Teague, and others. The mix brings together actors from both film and television backgrounds.

The movie is directed by James Ashcroft, who is known for working on tense and dark stories. The screenplay is written by Ben Jacoby and Chase Palmer. The project is also part of a continued collaboration between Netflix and AGBO, the studio connected to the Russo brothers.

One of the production team members described the film as more than just a thriller. They said, “The Whisper Man is a gripping thriller, but at its core [it] is a poignant and complex story of father and sons.” They also highlighted Robert De Niro’s role in leading the emotional side of the story.

First-look images from the film show key characters in tense and serious moments. These early visuals suggest a dark tone and a focus on mystery and emotion.

The film builds its tension around both the present investigation and the old case of “The Whisper Man,” which refuses to stay buried. As more children go missing, the connection between past and present becomes harder to ignore.

The Whisper Man will arrive on August 28 exclusively on Netflix.
