‘GTA 6’ Leaker Threatens Further Leaks Unless Rockstar Brings Back Physical Discs

Grand Theft Auto 6 has spent years generating some of the most intense anticipation in gaming history, but that hype has repeatedly collided with a persistent problem: leaks. Rockstar Games has weathered multiple unauthorized breaches over the course of the game’s development, and just as fans thought the leaks might finally be behind them, a new one has surfaced with an unusually pointed agenda attached.

That leak arrived over the weekend courtesy of an individual or group calling themselves Cyberleek, who shared fresh footage and a purported map ahead of the game’s November release. The leaked clips reportedly show co-lead protagonist Jason in several situations, including playing basketball outside his home and later crashing his car before getting into a violent altercation with a delivery driver that draws police attention.

Beyond the footage itself, Cyberleek has attached a broader demand to the leak, one aimed squarely at Rockstar and the wider games industry. According to the leaker’s own statement, they will continue releasing unauthorized material unless Rockstar issues a public apology and commits to specific changes around how the game is sold, including bringing back physical disc copies rather than relying solely on digital distribution.

Cyberleek laid out that ultimatum in a manifesto shared alongside the leaked content, framing the demands as three so-called “commandments.” “CYBERLEEK will continue to disrupt their operations until they issue a public apology with a concrete commitment to fix the harm they caused. No private negotiations. No quiet settlements. The public sees it, or the ‘leeks’ do not stop,” the statement read, warning publishers broadly that “if CYBERLEEK can reach Rockstar, no one is safe.”

The demands go beyond physical media alone. Cyberleek’s first commandment calls for an end to digital pre-orders ahead of a game’s release and independent reviews, while still allowing pre-orders for physical, tangible copies. The second commandment targets what the leaker calls “fake single-player DLC,” criticizing publishers for locking content behind paywalls that was already included with a game at launch. The third demand pushes for publishers to preserve single-player content through an offline fallback system once servers eventually shut down.

That framing lines up with a broader, ongoing industry debate around physical media preservation, an issue that’s intensified as more major publishers shift toward digital-first releases. Reports have already suggested Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive may release ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ as a digital-only title at launch specifically to reduce the risk of further leaks, with a physical edition potentially arriving weeks later or possibly not until early 2027.

Rockstar has responded to the leak by issuing copyright takedown requests targeting the circulating footage, a move that has inadvertently reinforced suspicions that the material is authentic. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has issued any public statement addressing Cyberleek’s specific demands as of this writing.

The leak’s timing carries added significance given what’s coming later this month. Rockstar is scheduled to debut “Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look” this Thursday, August 27, launching first as a timed Netflix exclusive before expanding to platforms like YouTube roughly six hours later.

Cyberleek has already signaled that more leaks could be coming, reportedly planning to release additional material on August 19. Whether that timing is coincidental or a deliberate attempt to overshadow Rockstar’s own promotional rollout remains unclear, though the pressure it places on the studio ahead of a major scheduled reveal is hard to ignore.

With ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ still slated for release on November 19 and leaks continuing to surface just months ahead of launch, Rockstar finds itself navigating mounting pressure from multiple directions. Whether the studio responds to Cyberleek’s demands or simply continues its pattern of quiet takedowns remains to be seen.
