There’s only a week left before the release of the second installment in the Shazam series, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and the latest trailer revealed one heavily anticipated but surprising inclusion in the movie. Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be the last movie in the antiquated DCEU before the upcoming Flash movie “restarts” the timeline, so we’re happy to see some of the faces from the DCEU reprising their roles in what appears to be the farewell movie for the last chapter in the continuity. Having said that let’s see whether Wonder Woman will appear in the Shazam! Fury of the Gods and to what extent.

Wonder Woman will appear in the Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The latest trailer that dropped shows Gal Gadot reprising her role as Wonder Woman, but until the movie is released fully, we don’t know what kind of role Wonder Woman will play in the movie. All we have for now are exciting glimpses into the action scenes that Wonder Woman will be part of.

Now that we’ve covered that Wonder Woman will appear in Shazam 2, it’s time to analyze what kind of future lies ahead for Gal Gado’s Wonder Woman in the upcoming DCU. If you’re interested in more, stay with us and keep reading!

The final trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods shows that Wonder Woman is not done with the DCEU

The Upcoming Shazam! Fury of the Gods will see the Shazam family in a fight against Daughters of Atlas. In the movie, we will see most of the big faces from the first movie reprise their roles, and fan-favorite Zachary Levi in the titular role of Shazam.

However, one anticipated inclusion overjoyed the fans, as we can see from the latest trailer that dropped two days ago, a little over a week before the big March 17th premiere, Gal Gadot will appear in the upcoming Shazam movie, reprising her role of Wonder Woman.

We don’t know what kind of role Wonder Woman will play in the upcoming movie, but we can see her featured in many action scenes, which insinuates that her addition to the Shazam! Fury of the Gods will not be a brief cameo.

What is the future of Wonder Woman in the DCU?

Recently, James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled the first projects that are part of their now-official DCU. It can be said with certainty that the DCEU is over, but the question of the DCU and its continuity arises. The timeline of the whole DCEU continuity will be restarted with the upcoming Flash movie (as we can gather), and Warner Bros. decided to drop most of the big faces that played some of the most popular DC superheroes on-screen for the past decade. Many fans wonder whether Safran and Gunn will keep Gal Gadot and Wonder Woman in the new and overhauled DCU.

Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Wonder Woman in the DCEU has been widely praised by audiences and critics alike. Her performance was considered one of the highlights of the 2016 film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and her standalone film “Wonder Woman” in 2017 was a critical and commercial success.

Gadot’s portrayal of Wonder Woman was widely appreciated for her strength, compassion, and charisma. She was seen as a refreshing take on the character and was praised for her ability to capture the essence of Wonder Woman from the comics.

Gadot has continued to portray Wonder Woman in subsequent films, including “Justice League” and “Wonder Woman 1984,” and her performance has been consistently praised even if the movie was considered somewhat worse when compared to the previous installment.

Due to Gadot’s amazing portrayal of Wonder Woman in the previous projects, we’re unsure whether she was also dropped.

Wonder Woman’s lore will be an important part of the new DCU

James Gunn and Peter Safran announced a clean slate of projects for the upcoming DCU, and of them was live-action series called “Paradise Lost” set on Themyscira before Wonder Woman was born.

In December 2019, a spin-off of Wonder Woman was announced, focusing on the island of Themyscira and the Amazons rather than on Wonder Woman herself. The story follows the state of the island after Wonder Woman’s departure, between the timeline of Wonder Woman 1984 and an unreleased Wonder Woman movie. However, since then, there have been changes, including Patty Jenkins being removed from the directing position, Wonder Woman 3 being canceled, and uncertainty regarding whether Gal Gadot will return to the role of Wonder Woman.

The upcoming Paradise Lost series is the third attempt at creating a Wonder Woman spin-off, and although it doesn’t feature Diana, it has the potential to add more magic, fantasy, and intrigue to the restarted DC Universe.

The plot of Paradise Lost, a new show set in the world of Wonder Woman, is not yet fully known, but producer Peter Safran has said it will feature drama and political intrigue similar to Game of Thrones. The show will take place on the island of Themyscira, home of the Amazons, and will focus solely on the island, providing a high-fantasy element to the DC Universe. James Gunn has said that the show will be an origin story for Themyscira, taking place long before the events of Wonder Woman, and has the potential to introduce new characters related to Diana and her world, providing a broader picture of Amazonian society.

It is currently unknown which names will be involved in DC’s upcoming project, Paradise Lost. With the cancellation of the Wonder Woman movie and Paradise Lost set before the events of the original Wonder Woman film, the chances of Gal Gadot being involved are slim. Additionally, it is unclear to what extent, if any, Patty Jenkins will be involved with the project.

Jenkins was previously moved to the role of producer for the third Wonder Woman movie in 2020 before major changes took place across the DC Universe, resulting in the removal of many notable faces, such as Henry Cavill and Jason Momoa. At this stage, it is uncertain whether Jenkins will have any involvement in Paradise Lost, and the cast is also unknown.
