Jacob Elordi, known for his roles in Euphoria and Priscilla, is reportedly being considered for a leading role in Ridley Scott’s upcoming Bee Gees biopic, You Should Be Dancing. This information comes from entertainment insider Daniel Richtman.

The film aims to chronicle the rise of the Bee Gees, the iconic trio of brothers who became global sensations in the 1960s and 70s. Barry Gibb, the last surviving member of the group, is set to serve as an executive producer on the project.

Ridley Scott, the acclaimed director behind films like Gladiator and Napoleon, has expressed a long-standing interest in directing a musical. In an interview, he mentioned, “I’ve been dying to do a musical,” and found the story of the Gibb brothers particularly compelling.

He added, “There’s a certain amount of tragedy… but from the beauty of their music, which are kind of rock, anthem ballads, they were as big as anybody – they were at the same level as The Beatles or The Stones, it was just quite different music.”

However, the production of You Should Be Dancing faced some delays due to disagreements between Scott and Paramount Pictures. Scott explained, “The deal—the studio changed the goalposts. I said, ‘You can’t do that.’ They insisted. I said, ‘Well, I’m going to warn you, I will walk, because I will go on to the next movie.’ They didn’t believe me, and I did.”

As a result, Scott shifted his focus to another project, The Dog Stars, a post-apocalyptic film based on the novel by Peter Heller. Jacob Elordi is also involved in this film, taking on the role of Hig, a pilot navigating a world devastated by a flu pandemic. Production for The Dog Stars began in April 2025, with filming locations in Italy.

Despite the earlier setbacks, You Should Be Dancing is now back on track, with filming scheduled to commence in September 2025 in Miami and the UK. With Elordi’s rising star power and Scott’s directorial prowess, the Bee Gees biopic is poised to be a significant cinematic event.
