Jacob Elordi Reveals Wild Behind-the-Scenes Details From His Shocking ‘Euphoria’ Death Scene

Jacob Elordi went through one of the strangest and most uncomfortable filming experiences of his career while shooting the final season of HBO’s Euphoria. The actor revealed that his character Nate Jacobs’ death scene required him to spend days trapped inside a coffin while sharing the space with a real snake.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with Euphoria co-star Colman Domingo serving as guest host, Elordi opened up about what it was like filming Nate’s brutal ending. The scene saw Nate buried alive before being attacked by a snake, creating one of the most shocking moments of the series.

The audience reacted with sadness when Domingo mentioned Nate’s death, which surprised Elordi, considering how fans had treated the character for years. Nate was one of Euphoria’s most controversial figures, often hated by viewers because of his cruel and manipulative behavior throughout the show.

Elordi joked about the sudden change in fan reaction.

“Finally, after eight years of all of you saying, ‘Fuck Nate, kill Nate, Nate’s a piece of shit’ — yeah, I read your tweets — now you’re sad. Hmm,” the actor said.

Before his death, Nate’s storyline in Season 3 put him through a difficult journey. After problems connected to his real estate business, he became the target of dangerous people who repeatedly attacked him. According to Elordi, much of his final season involved physical punishment and intense action scenes.

“I think Sam brought me back to torture me,” Elordi said, referring to Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. “It was like, six weeks of me just getting beat by a seven-foot guy. I was just running the whole time.”

The actor explained that the final death sequence was even more challenging. For two days, he remained inside a coffin while wearing heavy makeup effects and a fake tongue. The setup was designed to make Nate’s final moments look disturbing and realistic.

“I got locked in a coffin for two days straight with prosthetics and a fake tongue, and I couldn’t see out of my eyes. And then Sam put snakes into the coffin,” Elordi revealed.

One of those snakes was a real boa constrictor. While the show presented the creature as a dangerous rattlesnake, Elordi said the actual animal was much calmer than expected.

“He had a very nice personality,” the actor explained. “He was very docile and very sleepy. I don’t think he’d had a lot of sun … So I was kind of nudging him, trying to get him to get active and do the scene, because he was meant to be threatening. But he was like a little dog. He just kept curling up at my feet.”

Despite the difficult experience, Elordi said Euphoria completely changed his career. The HBO drama helped turn him into one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young actors and opened the door to major film roles.

“It really changed my whole life. It’s an incredible thing. … I don’t know if I’ll ever fathom the sort of size of that show and what it did for me,” Elordi said.

He also reflected on how the series helped both him and Domingo move into bigger projects, pointing out their career growth since joining the show.

Elordi is now continuing that momentum with new film roles, including Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, which is scheduled to premiere on August 28. While Nate Jacobs may be gone, Elordi’s experience on Euphoria remains one of the biggest turning points of his acting career.
