Josh Brolin Shocked That He’s Not a Part of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’: “I So Wanted to Be in That Movie”

One of the biggest upcoming MCU releases is most certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie marks several big things. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and also the only MCU movie to be released in 2024, in the hopes of restoring at least some of the faith that the fans of the franchise lost in the last several years due to a string of several poorly received movies.

The recently released trailer also confirmed that several old faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises are going to be making a return, a few faces were however notably missing, Angel Dust, Cable, and Domino.

Most of the fans were aware that Gina Carano likely won’t be reprising her role as the actress was let go due to “offensive” posts made on social media after which she was promptly fired by Disney. But fans were still holding out hope that Domino and Cable will return, especially after bigger roles have been teased in ‘Deadpool 2.’

Brolin confirmed several months ago that he won’t be included in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ but some fans simply assumed that he was lying. Now speaking with The Playlist, the actor opened up and revealed that he is devastated that he isn’t in the “sequel.”

Am I? Yeeeesssss! I so wanted to be in that movie.[Marvel] is a more complex labyrinth than ‘Outer Range’ will ever be, my friend, and I will never know where that went or what that is or what I’m involved with or what I’m not involved with —the MCU being involved now. Cable was a lot of fun. I really liked doing that role. That was a lot of fun.

Brolin later clarified that just because he’s not in the project, he has no ill will toward anybody who participated in the movie and is quite excited about the release.

Hugh [Jackman], I’m absolutely in love with, I know Ryan [Reynolds] now, and I’ve met Hugh a couple of times, and I think when he did ‘Logan’—forget it! I mean, Scott Frank, who wrote it, is a good friend of mine and I just think the coming together of [these characters] is just fantastic. And Hugh, I don’t know how old Hugh is now—is he 56, 57? I mean, seriously, the dude doesn’t age. So, yeah. I’m a big fan of his.

Brolin outlined one common issue in the MCU that several other actors confirmed and that’s that they never know what projects they are involved with until the production starts, due to the secretive nature of projects and the tendency for entire plots & characters to be leaked ahead of time, spoiling the movie for everybody.

We are disappointed to learn that Domino and Cable won’t be appearing in the movie, since they were pretty huge characters. But on the upside, Brolin recently mentioned that he has heard rumors about Thanos making his return to the MCU, so I guess that’s something.
