‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the most anticipated and the only Marvel cinematic release this summer. The movie is special due to plenty of things. First, it’s supposed to bring Deadpool to the MCU, second, restore some faith in the studio, and lastly, it’s going to showcase plenty of characters from the original Fox’s X-Men franchise.

But the plans for the original ‘Deadpool 3’ were different initially, and Hugh Jackman didn’t always plan to join the Merc with the Mouth in his latest adventure.

Hugh Jackman revealed in his interview with Empire, that he was discouraged from returning to the franchise by Fiege himself due to the way ‘Logan’ ended and the character departing on a high note.

‘Logan’ is still hailed as one of the best Wolverine movies, and its ending was pretty straightforward and didn’t really leave much for interpretation. Luckily, a new concept introduced in the MCU allowed Jackman to return as a variant. The Wolverine we will be seeing this summer in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is not the same character as the one that died in ‘Logan.’

“I said, ‘Let me give you a piece of advice, Hugh. Don’t come back,’” Feige said. “‘You had the greatest ending in history with ‘Logan.’ That’s not something we should undo.’”

Feige apparently doesn’t like to undo deaths and such endings, as he frequently stated that bringing Iron Man back from the dead is also out of the question. Luckily, new science will allow Jackman to return to his role without undoing anything that transpired in ‘Logan.’

It’s all because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines. Now we can go back because, you know, it’s science. So, I don’t have to screw with the ‘Logan’ timeline, which was important to me. And I think probably to the fans too.
