Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron Turn ‘The Odyssey’ Paris Photocall Into a Full-Blown Fashion Event
Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s ancient epic has spent the past week proving just how far a studio can stretch a promotional campaign. What started with press stops in New York quickly expanded into a full international circuit, with London and Paris both hosting major moments for the film in a matter of days.
That momentum carried straight through London’s photocall and premiere before landing in France, where the cast gathered once again for a fresh round of photos ahead of the film’s release. Each stop along the way has added another layer to what has become one of the most fashion-forward rollouts of the summer.
The latest chapter arrived at Trocadero Square in Paris, where Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron posed together with the Eiffel Tower rising behind them as the sun began to set over the city. The four actresses brought four completely different aesthetics to the same backdrop, and together they turned the event into one of the standout group moments of the entire press tour.
Hathaway, who plays Penelope in the film, wore a custom navy Prada gown with delicate gold embellishment and Bvlgari jewelry, continuing a maternity forward run of looks she has cycled through since announcing her pregnancy weeks earlier. Theron went in a completely different direction, pairing a sharp black blazer with satin mini shorts from Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann, a preview of the label’s Spring 2027 collection.
Zendaya, who takes on the role of the goddess Athena, arrived in a structural white Givenchy Haute Couture look designed by Alexander McQueen, finished with an elaborate gold lace headpiece by Philip Treacy styled by Law Roach. Nyong’o rounded out the group in a custom burgundy Armani Privé gown with crystal embellishment inspired by a look from the label’s Spring 2025 collection, paired with metallic Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.
The mix of styles tracked closely with the mythological roles each actress plays in Nolan’s retelling. Nyong’o takes on a rare dual role in the film, playing both Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra, two women whose stories sit at the emotional center of the larger saga surrounding the Trojan War and its aftermath.
That kind of range has defined Nyong’o’s approach to the press tour as a whole, with her wardrobe shifting dramatically between stops depending on which side of her dual casting she seems to be channeling. The same has held true for her castmates, each of whom has used the tour to build a visual identity that echoes the characters they play without ever feeling too literal or costume-like.
The Paris stop followed directly on the heels of the film’s London premiere, where the same four actresses walked the carpet alongside co-stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and Robert Pattinson as Nolan’s long-awaited epic officially made its theatrical debut. With additional promotional stops reportedly still ahead in other major cities, the tour shows no signs of slowing down before the film actually reaches audiences.
Who had the best look at The Odyssey Paris photocall?
‘The Odyssey’ opens in theaters on July 17, closing out one of the more ambitious global press campaigns in recent memory. Between the star power on display and the sheer scale of the promotional push, anticipation for Nolan’s take on Homer’s epic continues to climb with each new stop.
