New York Comic Con has long served as a proving ground for major franchise reveals, and this year’s edition is shaping up to be one of the most stacked in the convention’s history. Held annually at Manhattan’s Javits Center, the fall gathering draws hundreds of thousands of fans eager for first looks at their favorite film and television properties.

This time around, the celebration carries extra weight, since the show marks a significant milestone anniversary for the convention itself. Organizers have used that occasion to assemble a packed schedule spanning horror premieres, anime showcases, and studio panels from across the entertainment landscape.

Among the confirmed programming is the return of Marvel Television and Marvel Animation, whose panel has become something of a staple for Disney+ series updates in recent years. Titled “Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation,” the session is set for Thursday, October 8, at 4:15 p.m. on the Empire Stage, with special guests promised for an inside look at the studio’s upcoming slate.

Marvel hasn’t detailed exactly which projects will take center stage, but ‘VisionQuest’ looms large heading into the con. The series, which caps off the trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision,’ has already generated buzz thanks to previously released footage showing Paul Bettany’s Vision reuniting with James Spader’s Ultron, and NYCC would be a natural stage for further reveals.

The panel arrives the same day as several other high-profile offerings. Peacock and A24 are hosting an exclusive first-look screening of ‘Crystal Lake,’ the long-awaited prequel to the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise, followed by a conversation with series creator Brad Caleb Kane and stars including Linda Cardellini and William Catlett. Kane has already promised the prequel will lean hard into the bloodshed fans expect from the slasher lineage, a fitting tease for a franchise built on body counts.

Horror carries much of the weekend’s momentum beyond that screening. Friday brings an AMC+ spotlight featuring ‘Kill Jackie,’ ‘Yaga,’ Anne Rice’s ‘Mayfair Witches,’ and ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,’ promising exclusive reveals and behind-the-scenes material from each series. That same evening, Blumhouse’s BlumFest returns alongside a panel for ‘Violent Night 2,’ with David Harbour back as Santa Claus in the action-comedy sequel from director Tommy Wirkola.

‘American Horror Story’ also gets its moment in the spotlight, with a costume-focused panel spotlighting stars Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman ahead of the show’s thirteenth installment. Meanwhile, ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ kicks off the weekend with a panel celebrating both the franchise’s landmark anniversary and a first look at its second season.

Genre programming isn’t confined to horror alone. The Star Trek universe returns to the convention with a Saturday panel dedicated to ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,’ teasing its sophomore season alongside surprise guests tied to the franchise’s sixtieth anniversary. Anime and gaming fans have plenty to look forward to as well, from a ‘One Piece’ English dub panel to the first-ever assembly of the English voice cast for ‘Final Fantasy VII Revelation.’

For Marvel loyalists specifically, the Thursday panel represents the clearest opportunity yet to gauge what the studio has planned for the remainder of its Disney+ slate. Past editions of this panel have delivered surprise guest appearances and never-before-seen trailers, so expectations are understandably high heading into this year’s Empire Stage gathering.

The full schedule, revealed exclusively by Entertainment Weekly, notes that more panels are still being added ahead of the show. Given how much has already been confirmed, from prequel screenings to franchise reunions, fans attending in person or following along online should expect a busy four days.

New York Comic Con runs October 8 through 11 at the Javits Center, with the Main Stage and Empire Stage hosting the bulk of the weekend’s biggest reveals. Between Marvel’s Disney+ ambitions and a horror lineup stacked with ‘Crystal Lake,’ ‘Yaga,’ and ‘Mayfair Witches,’ this year’s convention has plenty riding on it.
