Matt Murdock Will Reportedly Start a New Law Firm in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

The original ‘Daredevil’ series ran for three seasons on Netflix between 2015 and 2018. The series was critically acclaimed, and many superhero fans still consider it one of the best superhero shows ever made. The series followed the blind titular character, played by Charlie Cox, and his adventures as a lawyer during the day and the Man Without Fear at night.

The series finished its run on Netflix after Disney brought the rights back to Marvel Studios. The fans started a large social media campaign to save the series, and their prayers were ultimately answered in July 2022 at San Diego Comic-Con when the Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced a new series, ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ with Cox set to return and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising the role of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin.

A new rumor might explain why Foggy Nelson and Karen Page won’t return in the upcoming series!

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is considered a soft reboot rather than Season 4 of the original series. Although Cox and D’Onofrio will reprise their roles, along with Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, aka Punisher, some main characters from the original series will not return in ‘Born Again,’ including Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page.

Now, according to @CanWeGetToast (via Daredevil Updates), one of the subplots in the upcoming series will be Matt Murdock starting a new law firm with Kirsten McDuffie, who Nikki M. James reportedly plays. The report says that the firm would be called “Murdock & Associates.”

The fans of the original ‘Daredevil’ series know that Murdock and Foggy Nelson started their own law firm called “Nelson and Murdock.” At the beginning of the series, they also recruited Karen Page as the firm’s office manager. The firm played a key role in taking down Wilson Fisk and defending Frank Castle, although the firm was ultimately disbanded due to Murdock’s complications of living a double life.

Eventually, Murdock, Nelson, and Page founded a new firm as a successor to “Nelson and Murdock.” The new firm was called “Nelson, Murdock, and Page.” However, since Nelson and Page aren’t set to return in ‘Born Again,’ starting a new firm with his new associate would make a lot of sense since the upcoming series will still depict Murdock’s double life as a lawyer and the blind vigilante.

Following the conclusion of the original ‘Daredevil’ series, it took three years for Charlie Cox to reprise the role in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ At the same time, Vincent D’Onofrio reprised the role of Kingpin in the ‘Hawkeye’ series on Disney+. Additionally, Cox also reprised the role in ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.’ Both Cox and D’Onofrio are also set to reprise their roles in ‘Echo’ this November.

The production of ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ is currently on hold to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood. The series is expected to arrive on Disney+ in 2024.
