It’s been over two years since Marvel Studios officially announced the reboot movie based on Marvel’s first family, commonly known as the Fantastic Four. And still, the only thing we know for sure is that the movie will be set in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that Matt Shakman, who replaced the initial director Jon Watts, is set to direct.

MCU fans are impatiently waiting for the official cast to be revealed. We expected that the first actors would be revealed at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con or Disney’s D23 Expo, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said the casting process is still ongoing.

While it’s unknown when we’ll find out who will be the newest Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and the Thing, that didn’t stop the rumors from spreading all over the internet, and we aren’t sure how trustworthy those are. Still, we decided to list all the actors that have been rumored for the upcoming Fantastic Four movie so far.

Adam Driver

Potential character: Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

In the last few weeks, there’s been a whole series of rumors about who could potentially star in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, and one of the first mentioned actors was Adam Driver, who is best known for the role of Kylo Ren in Star Wars sequel trilogy.

An alternate variant of Reed Richards, played by John Krasinski, appeared last year in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it was announced after the movie’s release that a different actor would play the franchise’s primary Mr. Fantastic. Will that be Adam Driver? It remains to be seen. Apart from Star Wars, Driver is also known for his roles in BlacKkKlansman, Marriage Story, The Last Duel, and House of Gucci.

Margot Robbie

Potential character: Sue Storm/Invisible Woman

Margot Robbie is one of the best-known Australian actresses in modern Hollywood. She made her breakthrough in 2013 with The Wolf of Wall Street, and since then, she has starred in I, Tonya, and Bombshell, which earned her two Academy Award nominations. She is also known for portraying Harley Quinn in three movies set in DC Extended Universe; Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad.

According to rumors, Marvel Studios has reportedly offered Robbie the role of Sue Storm/Invisible Woman in the MCU, making Robbie one more of a dozen actors who can say they worked on both Marvel and DC. We’ll watch Robbie in the upcoming Barbie movie this year, which could potentially be another franchise starter. We know Robbie is a great actress, but how can she star in everything?

Paul Mescal

Potential character: Johnny Storm/Human Torch

Paul Mescal is probably the least-known name on this list, but he was also nominated for the Academy Award this year for his role in Aftersun. Although he didn’t star in high-budget blockbusters so far, he’s undoubtedly a very talented actor, which Ridley Scott recognized, as Mescal is set to star in Gladiator 2, which is definitely his biggest project to date. But there are rumors that Marvel Studios is eyeing Mescal for the Johnny Storm/Human Torch role.

Mila Kunis

Potential characters: Sue Storm/Invisible Woman or The Thing

No, you actually read that right. Some of the rumors in the last few days have claimed that Marvel Studios is looking for male and female actors to play The Thing, with Mila Kunis as one of the possible choices.

On the other hand, some other rumors also connected Kunis with the movie, but for the role of the Invisible Woman because she was seen at lunch with director Matt Shakman. In one of the last few episodes of The Late Late Show with James Corden, Kunis broke silence on these rumors, saying she isn’t in the movie but knows who will be. Do you trust her?

Antonio Banderas

Potential character: Galactus

Considering we’re still in the dark about the movie’s actor and plot, it’s unknown who will be the movie’s antagonist. When we think about the Fantastic Four, two villains immediately come to our mind; Doctor Doom and Galactus.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the Fantastic Four will face either of them right in their first movie, but one of the recent reports has claimed that Marvel Studios offered the role of the cosmic supervillain Galactus to the veteran Spanish actor.

Marvel Studios still remains silent about the official cast for the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, and it’s unknown when it will be revealed. One certain thing is that whoever gets a role in the upcoming movie, we will for sure watch them for a long time and in many movies. Suppose this Fantastic Four reboot turns out to be successful commercially. In that case, it’s fair to expect this team to get its own trilogy in the MCU and appearances in other MCU movies.

Fantastic Four is set to be released on Valentine’s Day 2025, which is only two and a half months before the premiere of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. We can already see the text “Fantastic Four will return” after the movie’s post-credit scene.

Directed by Matt Shakman, Fantastic Four is set to be released on February 14, 2025.
