MCU’s ‘X-Men’ Reboot Reportedly Gets a Promising Update

Heres When We Can Reportedly Expect X Men To be Introduced to the MCU

In March 2019, Marvel Studios regained the film rights to X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool after Disney’s acquisition of Fox for $71.3 billion.

These characters are planned to be integrated into the MCU. In October 2020, the ‘X-Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ films were rebranded as “Marvel Legacy films” on Disney+. Notably, Patrick Stewart already reprised his role as an alternate Professor X in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and Kelsey Grammer returned as Beast in ‘The Marvels’. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ a sequel to ‘Deadpool 2,’ will bring Deadpool and Wolverine, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, respectively, into the MCU continuity.

We know that the ‘X-Men’ reboot project has been in talks for quite some time now, but it took the success of ‘X-Men ’97’ to really kick-start things. Seeing how popular the mutants are with the current Disney audience, I believe that work has gotten more serious in the last few months, and the recent scoops confirm it. According to Jeff Sneider who appeared on the latest John Campea Show, the studio is close to hiring a writer for the upcoming reboot and the public announcement will be made soon.

This might excite fans but it also might disappoint the portion of the fandom who hoped that a live-action reboot would be written by Beau DeMayo, whose writing is responsible for the success of the latest animated series. Following the release of episode 5, fans lost their minds due to the show being “just that good,” a good portion of them petitioned on social media for the writer to get his job back following his highly controversial but mysterious firing just days before the season 1 premiere.

Just because the writer will be tapped however you don’t have to expect the mutants to join the MCU anytime soon, at least according to recent reports. It’s going to be a long time before we have them in the MCU.
