More Details Reportedly Revealed Regarding Gambit’s, X-23’s & Elektra’s Role in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

Even before the trailer for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was released we knew that several notable X-Men and characters from other Fox properties related to Marvel are going to make an appearance in the upcoming movie.

Garner’s Elektra was among the first cameos to be confirmed, she will be reprising her role for the first time since her standalone movie released in 2005. Following this confirmation, several sources reported that Dafne Keen will be reprising her role as X-23, and most recently, Hugh Jackman and Channing Tatum hinted at their social media profiles that the latter will finally get the chance to play Gambit, following the cancelation of character’s standalone project.

Plenty of fans assumed that all those cameos and variants would be there for the sake of fan service and nostalgia, which would make for quite the unpleasant experience and the repetition of last year’s ‘Flash.’ But, if the rumors are true, Elektra, Gambit, and X-23 will have significant roles.

According to MyTimeToShineHello, a leaker and scooper with a decent track record, all three mentioned characters will be part of a resistance group stationed in Void that will fight against Cassandra Nova and her band of villains.

It makes sense to pit Fox heroes against Fox villains but this concept sounds too close to ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ for my liking.

We don’t know exactly what Cassandra has done in the movie, but based on the source material we can assume that she staged some sort of genocide which resulted in the complete deaths of X-Men and left Wolverine alone to deal with the aftermath. It’s likely that in the past Wolverine had the opportunity to stop her, but missed it which is why he is shunned.

Nova’s base of operations references Pym Falls, the helmeted skeletal head of Giant-Man, so we can assume that some elements from the ‘Old Man Logan’ storyline will be presented, possibly even the main premise.
