Actress Auliʻi Cravalho, best known for her role in Moana, will voice Jessica Cruz in season 3 of My Adventures with Superman. This will be her first appearance in the DC animated universe as the character. After this debut, she will go on to lead a separate series titled My Adventures with Green Lantern.

In this version of the story, Jessica Cruz is not yet a superhero. She is introduced as a shy, kind-hearted high school student who is still trying to understand the strange events happening around her. The show places her in the middle of a world already changing because of Superman and Supergirl.

Showrunner Jake Wyatt explained the creative thinking behind her introduction. He said, “There was this complexity of emotion to her read — a natural, almost oblivious charm that she brought to Jess — and I knew she was the one.” His comment highlights how Cravalho’s performance helped shape the character before she even appears on screen.

Jessica’s role in season 3 is connected to how the world reacts to powerful beings like Supergirl. According to Wyatt, the writers wanted to show how ordinary people respond differently when faced with someone who has extraordinary abilities. Jessica becomes a “girl-on-the-street” perspective, showing fear, curiosity, and admiration at the same time.

The show uses her character to reflect how normal life is affected by superheroes. Jessica watches Supergirl from a distance and tries to understand what it means to live in a world where aliens and super-powered beings are becoming more common. This helps set up her future transformation into a Green Lantern.

In DC Comics, Jessica Cruz is an important character because she becomes one of the first human female members of the Green Lantern Corps. However, in this animated series, she starts much earlier in her life, long before she receives a Power Ring or becomes a hero.

The upcoming spin-off My Adventures with Green Lantern will follow her journey after she is chosen by a Power Ring. The story will focus on her learning to control her fear and anxiety while stepping into a role she never expected. According to the official description, she will also face threats tied to an ancient space war and alien enemies arriving on Earth.

The spin-off is still in early development, and according to the report, it has not yet received a full series order. The production team is currently working on early animation stages for My Adventures with Superman season 3.

Wyatt also hinted that the tone of the Green Lantern series will feel different from Superman. He suggested it is inspired by a specific style from the Toonami programming block, although he did not fully explain which one. He described it as something fans will recognize once promotional material is released.

The crossover introduction of Jessica Cruz shows how the animated DC universe is expanding character stories across multiple shows. By introducing her early in My Adventures with Superman, the creators are building a longer character arc that moves from an ordinary student into a full Green Lantern hero.

Her debut episode, titled “Mobile Suit Toyman,” is set to air on Adult Swim’s Toonami block on June 20 at midnight ET/PT.
