Netflix Unleashes a Massive Anime Slate at Anime NYC, Confirming ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ and ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2’ Dates, Here Are All the Dates & Trailers
Netflix has spent years steadily building one of the strongest anime and adult animation libraries in streaming, and this weekend’s Anime NYC convention gave fans their clearest look yet at just how deep that pipeline runs. The event has become an increasingly important venue for the streamer to drop major reveals, and this year’s showcase delivered on nearly every front.
That reveal-heavy weekend touched several of Netflix’s most acclaimed animated properties at once, spanning everything from period samurai drama to cyberpunk dystopia. Fans walked away with concrete release windows, fresh trailers, and character details across a slate that’s clearly meant to keep the streamer’s anime dominance intact heading into 2027.
1. Blue Eye Samurai
Among the biggest announcements, Netflix confirmed that “Blue Eye Samurai” Season 2 will premiere in January 2027, ending months of anticipation following the acclaimed first season’s 2023 debut. Created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, the adult animated series follows Mizu, a mixed-race swordmaster voiced by Maya Erskine, as she pursues bloody revenge through Edo-period Japan, and the new season will shift much of that story to London as her quest for vengeance escalates.
Alongside the Season 2 date, Netflix also confirmed the series has already been renewed for a third season, setting up Mizu’s story to continue well into 2028. That early renewal signals significant confidence from the streamer in a show that’s become one of its most critically praised original animated projects.
2. Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2
“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” also received its long-awaited release date during the event, with Netflix confirming all 10 episodes will drop on Tuesday, October 20. Rather than directly continuing the story from the first season, this new installment functions as a standalone tale set within the same Night City universe, centering on a washed-up edgerunner and a killer netrunner trying to survive the dystopian metropolis.
Developed by CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger, the original “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” became a genuine cultural phenomenon following its 2022 debut, credited with reviving interest in the notoriously troubled “Cyberpunk 2077” video game years after its launch.

Netflix executive Jermaine Turner reflected on that impact during the studio’s earlier Annecy presentation, noting that when the first season dropped, “something unusual happened,” pointing out that the game “had, dare I say, a bit of a troubled launch, and suddenly became a cultural phenomenon again, all because of anime,” as he said during the event.

Series writer Bartosz Sztybor has also teased the emotional direction of the sequel, previewing that the new season will be “sadder, but it will also be darker, more bloody, and more raw.” That tonal shift lines up with reports that the story moves entirely past the original Edgerunners gang, introducing a fresh cast of characters navigating Night City’s underbelly.
3. Bass x Machina
Beyond those two headline announcements, Netflix’s Anime NYC presentation touched several other upcoming projects. “Bass x Machina,” described as a steampunk spaghetti Western produced by Brian Tyree Henry, received new photos and a fresh trailer.

4. LEGO One Piece

Netflix has released the official trailer for LEGO ONE PIECE, along with several new images. The project brings the world of ONE PIECE into LEGO-style animation. It adds another ONE PIECE-related title to Netflix’s growing lineup of projects.
Netflix also revealed new key art for, its upcoming anime adaptation.
However, the announcement did not include new release dates for either project.

5. Sakatomo Days
“Sakamoto Days” Season 2 also introduced several new characters as part of the night’s broader wave of reveals.
With anime programming now available across more than 190 countries in up to 34 languages, Netflix’s aggressive investment strategy shows no signs of slowing down. Between “Blue Eye Samurai’s” London-set second chapter and “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” returning with an entirely new cast of characters, the streamer’s animation slate heading into 2027 looks as ambitious as ever.
