New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Statue Has Fans Convinced Doctor Doom Is Wielding Marvel’s Deadliest Weapon
Merchandise leaks have become one of the most reliable ways for eagle-eyed Marvel fans to piece together plot details before a film even hits theaters, and ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has proven no exception. With December’s release inching closer, every new toy or collectible reveal has turned into an opportunity for the internet to dissect exactly what Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom might be planning.
The latest piece of merchandise to spark that kind of frenzy comes from Iron Studios, whose newly revealed 1:10 scale statue depicts Downey’s Doom seated on an elaborately detailed throne covered in mystical symbols fans have already nicknamed “Doom runes.” The collectible includes three interchangeable arm options for the figure, each hinting at a different piece of the character’s arsenal heading into the film.
Two of those arms are fairly straightforward, with one offering an open hand and another gripping a glowing green tome that has already sparked its own round of speculation, possibly serving as a replacement for the Darkhold. It’s the third arm, though, that has fans genuinely buzzing, since it shows Doom clutching a small, unnamed device that looks something like an ornate remote control.

Iron Studios hasn’t officially named the accessory, describing it in their materials only as an interchangeable arm, though it’s listed as “white-1-key” in the product’s image files. That vague labeling hasn’t stopped the internet from running with theories, and the leading one has fans convinced Doom is holding the Ultimate Nullifier, one of the most destructive weapons in Marvel Comics history.
For those unfamiliar with the device’s comic origins, the Ultimate Nullifier was originally housed aboard Galactus’ Worldship before the Fantastic Four discovered it, with Reed Richards famously wielding the threat of firing it to force Galactus to leave Earth. The weapon is capable of erasing a target from existence entirely, and its true destructive potential scales with the wielder’s willpower and mental strength, meaning a sufficiently powerful user could theoretically wipe out entire universes.
Not everyone is convinced the Ultimate Nullifier theory holds up, however. Some fans have pointed out that the prop doesn’t closely resemble the weapon’s classic comic book design, though supporters of the theory note the device has taken on different appearances across various eras of Marvel Comics, leaving room for the MCU to reinterpret its look entirely.
A handful of alternate theories have also emerged around the mysterious prop. Some fans believe the device could actually be a modified TemPad, giving Doom the ability to travel between different worlds, an idea that fits neatly given how heavily the multiverse has factored into Marvel’s recent storytelling. Others have floated the possibility that it’s a key to the Library of Worlds, an interdimensional repository of knowledge that, in Jonathan Hickman’s source comics, Doom actually gains access to and uses as a base of operations ahead of Secret Wars.
Given that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and its follow-up ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ are both drawing heavily from Hickman’s celebrated comic run, the Library of Worlds theory carries some real weight, especially since Doom’s live-action journey seems to be tracking closely with his comic counterpart’s arc leading into that story. Whatever the device ends up being, its prominent placement in official merchandise suggests it’s set to play a meaningful role in Doom’s plans once the film finally arrives.
