New Trailer for ‘LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’ Drops Featuring Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose”
A new trailer has been released for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, giving fans another look at the upcoming game set to launch on May 22. The game marks the return of a major Batman action experience after a long gap since the last major entry in 2015.
The trailer highlights a mix of action, Gotham exploration, and familiar Batman combat, all wrapped in LEGO style. One standout detail is the use of Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose” in the trailer, adding a dramatic and nostalgic tone.
Early impressions from hands-on gameplay suggest the game feels very close to the style of the Batman: Arkham Knight series. Combat uses a similar rhythm, with basic attack, counter, and dodge mechanics forming the core of fights. Players will also unlock gadgets and new abilities over time, expanding combat options.
The game begins with Batman fighting enemies tied to Carmine Falcone in a setting similar to the Iceberg Lounge. From there, gameplay moves into an open-world version of Gotham, where players can glide across buildings, use grappling tools, and drive a LEGO Batmobile inspired by modern Batman designs.
Developers from TT Games say the Arkham series influenced the new game, but they also stressed that it has been adapted for LEGO’s wider audience. The goal is to make combat deeper while still keeping it accessible and fun.
One of the biggest changes in this game is difficulty. Previous LEGO games did not really punish players for losing. This time, the new title introduces multiple difficulty settings. On the hardest mode, players can actually fail missions and restart from checkpoints, something not seen in earlier LEGO games.
Even so, the game is not designed to be overly punishing. Checkpoints are frequent, including during boss fights, which reduces frustration. Lower difficulty modes keep the traditional LEGO style where players simply respawn and continue without penalty.
According to developers, the highest difficulty is meant to add tension without becoming frustrating. It is aimed at players who want a more serious challenge while still keeping the game light and accessible overall.
Early gameplay impressions suggest the combat feels smooth and familiar for fans of Batman action games, while still keeping the humor and style of LEGO titles. The open-world design and gadget system also add more depth compared to previous entries in the series.
With its mix of familiar Arkham-style gameplay and LEGO presentation, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated superhero games in years.
This game is interesting because it tries to balance two very different styles: the serious tone of Arkham games and the fun, casual nature of LEGO games. If it gets that balance right, it could be a strong return for Batman gaming. What do you think about this new LEGO Batman game and its Arkham-style approach? Share your thoughts in the comments.
