A Little History

Nick Fury grew up in the late 1920’s in an area of New York called Hell’s Kitchen.  Hell’s Kitchen is a common place for Marvel Heroes to come from (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, etc…). It is also run by Crime and Corruption.

Looking to satisfy his lust for adventure, he and his best friend Red Hargrove put together a wing walking and parachute act. While training British Commando’s the two caught the attention of Lieutenant Samuel “Happy Sam” Sawyer. Sawyer made no waste to recruiting the two to join the army.

Stationed in Oahu, his best friend Hargrove was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor. This caused Fury to pledge vengeance against both the Japanese and Nazi forces. Shortly after these events, now Sargeant Fury was given full command over the United States’ first Strike Ranger Squad, The Howling Commandos.

He and his commandos fought alongside Captain America and Bucky during the War and battled villains such as Hitler, Baron Strucker, and the Red Skull. During the War, two injuries would change his life.

First, a grenade explosion caused massive deterioration in his left eye. And second, a landmine accident forced him to be given the Infinity Formula. Not only did the Infinity Formula save his life, but it also slowed his aging to a near standstill.

Following the War, Fury was recruited to the C.I.A. and the O.S.S. where he eventually worked up way up to the rank of Colonel. This advancement ultimately led him to S.H.I.E.L.D. where he became its leader and was equipped with high-end technology by Tony Stark. Upon entering, he quickly realized that the organization was filled with inefficiencies and corruption. He immediately put protocols into the place that rectified this.
