The Straw Hat Pirates are preparing for a new adventure as Netflix gears up to release season 2 of its live-action One Piece series in 2026.

Following the success of the first season, fans will soon see Luffy and his crew set sail into the Grand Line, starting with the iconic Reverse Mountain. Teen Vogue recently shared exclusive first-look images and a poster showcasing this legendary location.

Reverse Mountain is a crucial part of the One Piece world, where the waters of the Four Blues converge and flow upward to the peak before descending into the Grand Line.

In the new poster, fans can see the Going Merry navigating one of the mountain’s rivers, signaling a bigger, more exciting journey than what viewers experienced in the East Blue during season 1.

Emily Rudd, who plays navigator Nami, spoke to Teen Vogue about the challenges of bringing Reverse Mountain to life. “Like nearly everything we do on our show, Reverse Mountain was a huge ‘how the hell are we going to do this’ feeling,” she said.

“Our priority is always to do right by the anime and manga, Oda-san, and the fans, and since it’s the make-or-break beginning of the Straw Hats’ journey into the Grand Line, it needed to feel like the big, exciting feat that it is.”

Filming the mountain scenes pushed the actors to their limits. Rudd explained that the ship set was placed at a 26-degree incline, which created unique challenges for stunts. “Simply walking around the ship without a hand on a safety line was pretty much asking for an unexpected fall… At the same time, it made it feel more real, even though we were just working with ourselves, the Merry, and blue screens,” she said.

Reverse Mountain isn’t just a physical challenge for the crew. It also tests Nami’s navigational skills, and fans will see that even with teamwork, not everything can be predicted or controlled.

Netflix officially revealed that season 2 will be titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line. While plot details remain mostly under wraps, Emily Rudd promises more adventures, new characters, and intense challenges for the Straw Hats.

The series will also revisit Loguetown, the site of Gol D. Roger’s execution, which set Luffy’s journey into motion. “It’s their first stop on their way to the One Piece as a real crew, and I think fans are going to have a lot of fun watching their family dynamic (and more) in action,” Rudd said, noting small details like Usopp’s signature goggles for fans to spot.

With more arcs, islands, and foes than ever before, Rudd warned viewers to get ready. “If you thought last season was crazy, you’d better buckle up.”

Season 2 looks like it will expand the world of One Piece in thrilling ways. Reverse Mountain already promises incredible visuals and exciting action, and revisiting familiar locations like Loguetown adds a nice connection to the story’s roots. Fans of the anime and manga are in for a treat.
