Robert Kirkman Teases Explosive ‘Invincible’ Season 4: “More Viltrumite Action You’ve Been Waiting For,” Reveals Major Character Has Already Been Cast

Robert Kirkman, the creator behind both The Walking Dead and Invincible, recently opened up about what fans can expect from Season 4 of Invincible and how the show’s story is evolving. Speaking with Deadline, Kirkman teased that the next season will dive deeper into the Viltrumite saga, a fan-favorite storyline from the comics.
He explained that while Seasons 2 and 3 explored different parts of the Invincible universelike Anissa’s story, Nolan’s journey, and the battle with Conquest, Season 4 will really ramp up the Viltrumite action. Kirkman said, “If you’ve been watching since Season 1, you might be like, ‘Hey, when is there going to be more Viltrumite stuff?’ I will say that Season 4 has more Viltrumite stuff that you might be wanting.”
Creator also revealed that Thragg is cast and will be in Season 4.
This is exciting news for fans who have been waiting for more of the alien warrior race’s story, which has been a major thread running through the show.
Kirkman also talked about the challenges the characters face, especially Mark Grayson, the hero at the center of Invincible. Mark is still wrestling with what kind of hero he wants to be, especially when it comes to how far he should go to stop his enemies.
His younger half-brother Oliver, who also has powers, takes a much darker approach, which creates tension between them. Kirkman said, “By the end of this season, you should be worried for where Mark is headed in Season 4 and beyond.”
The battle with Conquest in Season 3 pushed Mark to his limits, and Kirkman hinted that this struggle might push him closer to a darker path in the upcoming season. The show continues to explore big questions about power and responsibility, with Mark trying to stay true to his morals despite the heavy burden he carries.
Kirkman also shared that the experience of adapting The Walking Dead helped shape how the Invincible series is made. Unlike The Walking Dead, where some storylines had to be changed as the show went on, Invincible has its full comic run finished, so the TV show can better plan for future seasons. Season 4 will include the most complex animation the team has done so far.
Overall, Kirkman promises that Season 4 will bring bigger, more intense battles and deeper stories that fans won’t want to miss. The show keeps pushing the emotional and physical stakes higher every season, making it clear that Invincible is far from done telling its story.
