Gunn’s and Safran’s newly revamped DCU is going full steam ahead, as several projects are currently in development, most notably ‘Superman,’ which only recently started filming in Atlanta. One notable project that was retroactively stated to be a part of the DCU is Gunn’s ‘Peacemaker.’ ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 was already confirmed to be in development when Gunn clarified that the show will be canon to the DCU and that he will make it work in a way that is not confusing for the fans at all, and that the transition between DCEU and DCU at least as far as ‘Peacemaker’ is concerned will be as smooth as possible.

Back in February of this year, Gunn announced that the second season of the show is fully written, and after ‘Superman’ finished filming, it’s going to get more of his attention. Now, according to the most recent rumors shared by Daniel Richtman on his private Patreon, the show is expected to start filming this year along with the upcoming show ‘Waller’ which implies that the shows will be filmed back to back.

‘Waller’ was confirmed to be in development back in 2022 as a spinoff of ‘Peacemaker’, with Viola Davis reprising her role as the titular character, recently it’s been confirmed that the show will not be comedy-oriented as ‘Peacemaker’ as Waller is much more serious character, and the show will try to reflect that tone.

‘Waller’ was supposed to be released in 2024, but the fact that Gunn is now focusing on the rest of the DCU projects, the best-case scenario is that both shows will be released sometime in 2025 as a part of ‘Gods & Monsters’ – Chapter 1 of the DCU.

DCU’s Chapter 1 ‘Gods & Monsters’ currently consists of several movies: ‘Superman: Legacy’ scheduled to be released in 2025, ‘The Authority,’The Brave and the Bold,’ ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Swamp Thing.’ Only ‘Legacy’ has a confirmed release date as of now. There are also several shows in production as well: ‘Creature Commandos,’ ‘Lanterns,’ ‘Paradise Lost,’ and ‘Booster Gold.’ Only ‘Creature Commandos’ so far has an approximate confirmed release window expected to be released in 2024.
