Rumors: The MCU Is Not Abandoning the Idea of Kang Being the Villain but They’re Thinking of Adding a Twist

Heres Why Kang the Conqueror Is Considered Evil

Jonathan Majors debuted in the MCU as Victor Timely back in 2021, and then as Kang the Conqueror in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ in 2023 in what was the first movie of Phase 5, also known as the beginning of the Multiverse Saga. ‘Quantumania’ wasn’t exactly successful, adding insult to injury, soon after the release of the blockbuster movie, the actor behind the villain who was supposed to mark the next few phases of the MCU was arrested. Even though Majors’ lawyers quickly provided evidence that such a thing never took place, the case was far from over, and Majors was eventually found guilty of third-degree assault and harassment and fired by Disney.

Now ever since Jonathan Majors was fired there’s been a lot of talk that Kang has been abandoned altogether, ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’ is being referred to as ‘Avengers 5’ at this point. Two main theories still stand, Majors will either be recast obviously, we previously covered that John David Washington and Colman Domingo are among the prime candidates, or the villain will be replaced. With fans begging for the MCU to introduce the likes of Doctor Doom as the primary antagonist of the next big phase.

If Daniel Richtman is to be believed, a notable scooper and leaker with an impressive track record, Kang will not be replaced as the main villain but the studio is thinking about adding another one. This would align with the rumors that re-surfaced earlier this year that Kang will eventually be replaced by something more sinister, like for example Beyonder who should be introduced during the ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’

Kang replaced as villain

No matter which direction Marvel Studios decides to take, a portion of the fanbase will be unhappy. Some fans were looking forward to seeing Kang as the primary antagonist and some weren’t sold on the idea of him having such a role in the MCU in the first place. What do you think?
