‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Swings Into the Global Box Office Stratosphere
There are big box office runs, and then there are runs that force analysts to dust off the all-time charts. The ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ box office story has been the second kind since the film opened on July 31. Every week has brought a new milestone, and Sony and Marvel have been rewriting the record book right alongside it.
The film has stayed in the headlines through some of the fastest starts the industry has ever seen. It debuted to a record $360M domestically, the biggest opening weekend in history, and launched with $932M globally. That global opening trails only ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ which opened to $1.2B.
Now the worldwide total has settled into rarefied territory. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has grossed roughly $2.45B worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing film of all time. Only ‘Avatar’ at about $2.92B and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ sit above it, according to Variety and Deadline.
The pace of the ascent has been staggering. The film crossed $1B in just six days, the second-fastest to do so behind ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ It reached $2B after only three weekends, becoming the eighth film ever to do it and the second-fastest after ‘Endgame,’ which needed 11 days.
From there, it kept passing everything in its path. It overtook ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ to become the biggest Spider-Man film ever, then passed ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’ It also topped ‘Titanic’ and ‘Ne Zha 2,’ and then ‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ which put it at No. 3.
The international results have been just as impressive. China has been the film’s top overseas market, with $227.4M as of early September, followed by the UK at $125.2M, Mexico at $88.2M, France at $81.6M and Brazil at $70.2M. Deadline reported that it became Sony’s highest-grossing release ever in 56 international territories.
It has also set local records in markets around the world. The film became India’s biggest Hollywood release ever after two weekends, and it became the top movie of all time in Brazil and Spain in that same span. In Brazil, it beat both ‘No Way Home’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ by wide margins.

At home, the film has been just as dominant. On Sept. 16, it passed ‘The Force Awakens’ at $936.773M to become the highest-grossing film ever at the domestic box office. It held No. 1 for six straight weekends and is now closing in on $950M in North America.
Sony’s investment has paid off handsomely. The film carries a reported $225M budget, and it helped make summer 2026 the highest-grossing summer ever at the global box office with $4.765B. It is Sony’s biggest release ever, and Tom Holland’s highest-grossing film on the Spidey side of his career.

The next question is how much more the film can add. ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is returning to theaters on Sept. 25 with ‘Avengers: Endgame: Encore,’ which Deadline said will likely increase its lead over ‘Brand New Day.’ That means the gap to second place may widen, even as the web-slinger keeps climbing in North America.
Still, there is little doubt about the film’s place in box office history. It has beaten a run of one-time champions, broken a decade-old domestic record and given Sony a franchise high point that will be difficult to match. Even a third-place finish would make it one of the most successful superhero films ever released.
How far do you think Spider-Man: Brand New Day will climb worldwide?
