Pokémon (Franchise)

Pokémon is a Japanese multimedia franchise featuring video games, animated shows and films, a trading card game, and other media centered around creatures with unique abilities living alongside humans. Created from Satoshi Tajiri’s original idea and launched with Game Freak’s Game Boy games in 1996, the franchise became a global phenomenon and remains one of the highest-grossing media franchises in the world. The Pokémon Company, founded by Nintendo, Creatures, and Game Freak, manages the franchise worldwide through its various divisions and partnerships.
