Milly Alcock is getting ready to lead DC’s next big movie with Supergirl, but the actress recently admitted there are still several major Marvel movies she has never watched. In a new interview with Variety, Alcock revealed that she has missed some of the MCU’s biggest female-led superhero films, including Black Widow and Captain Marvel.

She also said she has never seen Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot, even though it became one of DC’s biggest box office hits.

While talking about preparing for Supergirl, Alcock joked that skipping those superhero movies is “probably not great.” She laughed and admitted, “I should just lie!” The actress explained that she never really sat down to study superhero films before joining the DC Universe. Instead, she focused more on understanding Kara Zor-El as a person rather than learning the genre itself.

According to Variety, Alcock said she connected deeply with Supergirl’s emotional story. She described Kara as someone dealing with pain, loneliness, and identity struggles after losing Krypton and everyone she loved. That emotional side of the character mattered more to her than watching previous comic book movies.

The actress also shared that she was nervous during her Supergirl audition for DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Alcock said the pressure felt huge because she knew how important the role was. Gunn later told Variety he believed Alcock had the “edge” needed for this version of Supergirl, which takes inspiration from the Woman of Tomorrow comics.

Even though she avoided Marvel movies for research, Alcock still trained heavily for the role. She spent months doing stunt training in London and learned fight choreography, punches, and action scenes for the film. Director Craig Gillespie praised her commitment and said she handled the massive production extremely well.

Alcock first became widely known after playing young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Since then, her career has exploded with projects like Netflix’s Sirens and the upcoming DC film. She also recently wrapped work on a new horror movie directed by Takashi Miike.

The Variety interview also touched on the online backlash female actors often face in fandom spaces. Alcock spoke openly about toxic comments she experienced after House of the Dragon and more recently while promoting Supergirl.

She explained that social media reactions can become overwhelming, especially for women in major franchises. Alcock said, “You’re proving my point,” while discussing angry reactions to her comments about online criticism.

Supergirl is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26. The film stars Alcock as Kara Zor-El alongside Eve Ridley and Matthias Schoenaerts. According to DC Studios, the movie will follow a rougher and more emotionally damaged version of Supergirl compared to past adaptations.

Even with a superhero movie now leading her career, Alcock is still catching up on some of the genre’s biggest titles. Her honest confession about missing Marvel films quickly caught fans’ attention online, especially since she is now becoming one of DC’s biggest new stars.
