‘The Batman Part 2’ Faces Another Year-Long Delay!
At the end of 2023, the DCEU ended and was replaced by Gunn and Safran’s new DCU. Most old projects were canceled, and many actors were let go. However, Matt Reeves’ Batman Universe, which was separate from the DCEU, survived. ‘The Batman’ was meant to kick off a trilogy, and soon after, ‘The Batman – Part II’ was announced.
In December 2021, Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves discussed future Batman films, including introducing Robin and the Court of Owls as villains. In April 2022, Warner Bros. confirmed the next Batman movie with Reeves directing and Pattinson returning. Updates about cast, villains, and production were shared throughout 2022 and 2023.
The sequel, ‘The Batman: Part II,’ was originally set for release in October 2025. However, due to industry strikes, delays happened, though updates on returning cast and crew were still shared. A few months ago, it was announced that the movie would be delayed a year, now scheduled for October 2, 2026.
Today, the movie was delayed again by another year, now set for October 1, 2027. The reasons for the delay aren’t clear, but both Gunn and Reeves confirmed the script isn’t finished yet, with Gunn saying he’s eagerly awaiting it.
Later today, Andy Muschietti confirmed that ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold,’ DCU’s version of Batman, is also delayed “a little bit.” He revealed he will work on a new sci-fi movie in the meantime.
Tom Cruise’s next movie will replace ‘The Batman 2′ on Warner Bros.’ schedule. Also, the release dates for ‘Sinners’ and ‘Mickey 17’ are swapping between March and April.
