‘The Bear’ Season 5 Just Got a Release Date

The hit show The Bear is coming back for a fifth season. FX recently announced that after the big debut of season four last week, they have officially renewed the Emmy-winning comedy-drama for another season. Fans can expect the new season to premiere sometime in 2026.
FX Chairman John Landgraf shared his excitement about the show’s success, saying, “The Bear continues to be a fan favorite worldwide and their response to this season, as seen through incredibly high viewership, has been as spectacular as any of its previous seasons.”
He added that Chris Storer, along with the cast and crew, consistently makes “The Bear one of the best shows on television,” and they’re thrilled to keep telling this powerful story.
Created by Christopher Storer, The Bear follows Jeremy Allen White as Carmy Berzatto, a talented chef who leaves his high-end restaurant world behind to take over his late brother’s struggling Italian beef sandwich shop in Chicago.
The show mixes drama and comedy, exploring Carmy’s efforts to fix the chaotic kitchen while dealing with personal pain and family issues. Other key actors include Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, and Liza Colón-Zayas, among others.
The show first premiered on FX on Hulu on June 23, 2022, with all episodes of the first season released at once. The second season came out exactly one year later, on June 22, 2023. Season three was renewed in late 2023 and released on June 26, 2024. Season four, announced before the third season aired, premiered on June 25, 2025. Now, the fifth season renewal was confirmed in July 2025.
Critics and viewers alike have praised The Bear for its writing, directing, acting, and realistic portrayal of kitchen life. It also handles tough subjects like trauma and suicide with honesty, which has earned it respect from both audiences and the restaurant world.
The show has won a total of 21 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, directing awards for Chris Storer, and acting awards for Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Other cast members like Ayo Edebiri, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Jon Bernthal have also won Emmys. The Bear has also earned five Golden Globe Awards, including Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2024.
The show’s main characters include Carmy, Richie (played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach), who manages the restaurant, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), a young sous-chef, and Marcus (Lionel Boyce), a bread baker turned pastry chef under Carmy’s guidance. Other familiar faces include Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas), Natalie (Abby Elliott), and Neil Fak (Matty Matheson), among others.
The supporting cast features several recurring roles, such as Jon Bernthal as Carmy’s late brother Michael, who struggled with addiction before his death, and Oliver Platt as Jimmy Kalinowski, a key investor and family friend. The show has developed a rich ensemble of characters who bring depth and life to the story.
