The Mandalorian vs. Boba Fett: Which Bounty Hunter Would Win in a Fight?

There are a lot of different characters that aren’t Force wielders in the world of Star Wars. Two of them are actually bounty hunters, as Din Djarin is often called the Mandalorian, and Boba Fett is a great bounty hunter of Mandalorian descent himself. Both of these fighters are strong enough to threaten well-trained Force wielders due to their training and battle skills. But which between the Mandalorian and Boba Fett would win in a fight?

The Mandalorian is more powerful than Boba Fett and would likely win in a fight against him. Both are well-armed and trained, and both are also among the most skilled bounty hunters in the galaxy, but Mandalorian is simply better. He has shown better feats as well as having a stronger suit and armor than Boba Fett.

We are not dismissing that Boba Fett is strong and capable enough to hold his own against any fighter. But the thing is that Din Djarin has proven himself strong enough to take on some of the most powerful non-Force wielders in the world of Star Wars due to his training and skills. So, with that said, let’s look at who between the Mandalorian and Boba Fett would win in a fight.

Armor

While Din Djarin initially started the storyline off with Mandalorian armor pieces and Durasteel armor parts, he eventually earned enough Beskar steel to have the Armorer forge more Beskar steel parts, allowing him to equip himself with a full Beskar suit of armor.

In that regard, Din is as fully-armored as any Mandalorian we’ve seen, as he is extremely well-protected from head to toe. There are hardly any openings in his Mandalorian Beskar armor, and that’s why he has survived many attacks that should have killed other characters.

Boba Fett owns a suit of Beskar armor inherited from his father. This suit has seen a lot of action already as the wear and tear is clear on the surface of the Beskar steel armor, which means that it has done its job in protecting him from harm in many of the different missions he undertook in the past.

While that may be so, it is important to note that Boba Fett’s armor doesn’t cover every part of his body, so there are a few openings in his defense. Nevertheless, as long as he can protect the parts that need to be protected, he can survive any fight.

Just looking at both of these characters would allow us to see that Din Djarin has the better suit of armor. Of course, we can’t blame Boba Fett because the Mandalorian’s armor is basically brand-new compared to his.

Equipment

Like all Mandalorians, Din Djarin’s suit of armor isn’t just to protect himself from powerful attacks. In fact, the armor is full of different weapons and equipment that allow him to defeat countless opponents even though he no longer has the Darksaber and his Beskar steel spear.

His vambraces are equipped with a whistling bird launcher, flamethrowers, and a whipcord launcher. Meanwhile, Din also keeps other weapons within his reach, such as a blaster pistol in his belt, a vibro-knife in his boot, and a phase pulse blaster.

Boba Fett isn’t a slouch regarding his equipment, as he has all of the necessary weapons that a Mandalorian needs to defeat an opponent.

His vambraces have a flamethrower, concussion rockets, vibro-blades, and a whipcord launcher. He also has a wrist laser that is powerful enough to kill enemies in an instant. But his newest weapon is his gaderffi stick, a staff-like weapon he learned to use after spending years with the Tusken Raiders of Tatooine.

The thing is that both Din Djarin and Boba Fett are true Mandalorians in the sense that they keep a lot of weapons at their disposal. We can’t tell who has the advantage here because they don’t seem to be lacking in terms of their equipment.

Marksmanship

As a Mandalorian, Din Djarin was trained in the art of using blasters as his main weapon, and that means that he is as skilled as any other marksman in the Star Wars world. We have seen Din hitting targets from a distance without even using the targeting system in his helmet, and that means that he is a naturally great marksman who can excel when using his blaster pistol or his blaster rifle.

Because he is still in the prime of his life, Din has also displayed uncanny quickness and reflexes when using his blasters, such that some fans actually think that he has Jedi reflexes.

One of the things that allowed Boba Fett to excel as a bounty hunter was his abilities as a marksman. He was always a very accurate shooter who could use his blaster pistols effectively when taking out numerous opponents.

Boba is also quick enough with his draw but has gotten slower because he is already older and is already quite damaged because he spent a while in the stomach acid of the Sarlacc that swallowed him during the events of ‘Return of the Jedi.’ That’s why Cad Bane was still a faster shot compared to him.

While Cad Bane has always been a quick shot and likely quicker than Din Djarin, we believe the Mandalorian can draw his gun faster than Boba Fett. Both of them are great marksmen, but it now boils down to who is quicker with the draw.

Fighting skills

Trained as a true Mandalorian, Din Djarin is a great fighter who can stand his ground against equally great fighters who excel in melee combat. After obtaining his Beskar steel spear, he was instantly a natural in using it and defeated Moff Gideon, who was using the Darksaber, in their first duel.

Din also used the Darksaber well enough in different situations, even though he struggled to use it due to its weight. And while he failed to use the Darksaber effectively, he is still incredibly skilled with a vibro-knife and defeated the bigger Paz Vizsla in a duel.

While we didn’t see a lot of Boba Fett’s melee skills during the earlier part of his life because the Mandalorians didn’t train him, we eventually saw just how skilled of a fighter he was in ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ when he became an honorary Tusken Raider and was able to become just as strong as they are in the use of a gaderffi stick.

In his fight with Cad Bane, Fett struggled because Bane was better in almost everything. However, after he started using his gaderffi stick, he gained the upper hand and defeated his former mentor with a melee weapon that Bane didn’t expect Fett would be able to use masterfully.

Din Djarin and Boba Fett are incredibly skilled fighters who aren’t just great marksmen. But while Din was impressive with his Beskar steel spear and his vibro-knife, Boba was just more impressive with his gaderffi stick.

Feats

It might be true that Din Djarin was protected by plot armor, but he was actually an incredibly skilled and impressive Mandalorian fighter compared to the other Mandalorians in the storyline. His most impressive feats came during the third season of ‘The Mandalorian’ when he stormed Moff Gideon’s base on Mandalore and defeated plenty of Gideon’s Beskar-equipped troopers alone.

He could give Gideon in his Dark Trooper armor a tough fight, even though he would never defeat him on his own. But Din eventually showcased his strength when he defeated numerous Praetorian Guard members, the Imperial remnants’ elite group.

Boba Fett had a lot of great feats in the Legends department, but we’re talking about canon here. As a fighter and bounty hunter, he has had several brushes with powerful foes and defeated strong bounty hunters in the comics that told of how he delivered Han Solo to Jabba the Hutt.

Meanwhile, in ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ Fett was able to handle numerous Pyke Syndicate fighters even though he and his soldiers were outnumbered. And he defeated Cad Bane in single combat even though Bane was often called the greatest bounty hunter since Jango Fett.

Boba Fett accomplished great things, but Din Djarin defeated members of the Praetorian Guard and could handle numerous Beskar-clad troopers on his own.

The Mandalorian vs. Boba Fett: Who wins?

It might be true that Boba Fett has always been a legendary bounty hunter, especially in the Legends arc of Star Wars. But the fact is that the Mandalorian is now the more accomplished bounty hunter of the two and has done more impressive things. Of course, Boba Fett should give Din Djarin a hard time in a fight, but the truth is that the Mandalorian has shown better feats.
