James Gunn has built his reputation on knowing exactly which obscure corners of the DC library to raid, and ‘Man of Tomorrow’ looks like it will be no exception. The film has already generated months of speculation over its supporting cast, with insiders teasing mysterious codenames and unannounced roles long before any official confirmation from the studio.

That pattern of surprise continues this week, as fresh reporting suggests the film’s cast may include a character most casual moviegoers have never heard of. The rumor comes from prominent industry insider Daniel Richtman, whose past scoops on the project have included everything from the film’s confirmed title to a possible return for Xolo Maridueña’s Blue Beetle.

According to the latest report, shared and amplified online, Brother Power is expected to make an appearance in ‘Man of Tomorrow.’ For a film already juggling Superman, Lex Luthor, and Brainiac, adding a character this deep into DC’s back catalog says a lot about how far Gunn is willing to reach for this shared universe.

Brother Power, also known as Brother Power the Geek, is a DC Comics character created by Joe Simon in 1968. He first appeared in his own short-lived comic series, which lasted only two issues before being canceled, and the concept was rooted heavily in Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein,’ with a bit of 1960s counterculture mixed in for good measure.

In the comics, Brother Power began life as an ordinary store mannequin left behind in an abandoned tailor shop that had become a haven for hippies. A lightning strike brings him to life, granting him superhuman strength, durability, and the ability to absorb electricity, and he spends much of his early history wandering through psychedelic misadventures while trying to make sense of the modern world around him.

The character has always leaned pacifist, generally avoiding physical combat despite his impressive abilities, and his story often focused more on his role as an outsider observing society than on traditional superheroics. He has popped up sporadically in DC continuity over the decades, including an appearance alongside Batman and more recent nods in anthology titles.

Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow’ serves as a direct sequel to 2025’s ‘Superman,’ following Superman and Lex Luthor as they reluctantly team up against a much bigger threat in Brainiac. The film is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027, and reunites much of the first film’s cast, including David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult, alongside newer additions like Lars Eidinger as Brainiac.

This would not be the first time Richtman’s reporting has hinted at unusual, under the radar characters joining the project. Earlier rumors pointed to a handful of mystery roles under codenames like Rocket J Squirrel and Max Headroom, names that reportedly had nothing to do with the actual characters being played, fueling months of fan guessing games ranging from Batmite to John Constantine.

If Brother Power really does show up in some form, it would fit neatly into Gunn’s established pattern of sprinkling weird, niche DC lore into his DCU projects rather than sticking strictly to the most recognizable names. Whether that means a full role, a background cameo, or something else entirely remains unclear, since neither Gunn nor DC Studios has commented on the report.

Would Brother Power be a good addition to James Gunn's DCU?

As always with unverified casting rumors this far out from release, fans should treat the news as unconfirmed until DC Studios weighs in directly. Still, if ‘Man of Tomorrow’ really is planning to bring the sentient hippie mannequin into live action, it would rank among the most delightfully strange choices of Gunn’s DCU era so far.
