Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: A Stand-Up Hero, as His MCU Kill Count Shows
Superheroes and comic book characters often inflict significant damage during battles. While this isn’t intentional on the part of the heroes, harm, and casualties are an unavoidable part of the conflict. There are also moments when heroes deliberately kill, seeing it as the only way to overcome their foes and secure victory.
Although some superheroes, like Batman and Superman, adopt a “no-kill” policy, this is more of an exception than the norm. Generally, superheroes don’t hesitate to take down their enemies, whether they’re monsters, aliens, or other threats.
With that in mind, let’s examine the kill count of a key comic book character—specifically, his version in the MCU. We’re discussing Spider-Man, a character widely viewed as a good guy in the MCU, and you’ll see how his actual kill count supports that perception!
The data we’re sharing comes from an IMDb list compiled by user Creedswede, who took the time to document the kill count of both major and minor MCU characters, along with several key notes. According to his findings, here is Spider-Man’s kill count:
- Avengers: Endgame – 16
- Total kills: 16+
He also appeared in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, but he recorded no kills in those films, which is notable given his significant roles in all except for Venom, where he had a cameo.
As you can see, Spider-Man’s actual kill count is minimal in relative terms. When you consider that he took down Thanos’ alien henchmen in Endgame, it becomes almost negligible in absolute terms as well.
This aligns with the portrayal of Holland’s Spider-Man as a friendly hero who uses his powers for good and avoids killing unless absolutely necessary; however, it doesn’t seem like he follows a strict “no-kill” policy. More likely, the MCU wants to avoid depicting a childlike character casually taking lives.
Nonetheless, with numerous rumored and scheduled future appearances—including solo films, Avengers projects, and a potential crossover with the Venom movies and the SSU—it’s likely that his kill count will rise, but we’ll address that when the time comes.
These figures have been updated as of Deadpool & Wolverine, where Spider-Man did not appear, allowing us to consider them accurate.
